A detachment of warships of the Northern Fleet led by the frigate Admiral Gorshkov rescued a French citizen from a yacht in distress in the Atlantic Ocean

The crew of the medium tanker "Kama" from the squadron of warships of the Northern Fleet, performing the tasks of a long-distance campaign in the central Atlantic Ocean, received an emergency signal from a yacht in distress. To assist the crew, the tanker "Kama" deviated from the route and headed to the area of the accident.

An inspection team was landed on the yacht, which took one person with personal belongings and his dog on board the Russian tanker.

A French citizen Lucas Monteu, who was making a solo voyage in the Atlantic, was rescued. During a storm, the steering device on the yacht failed and water began to flow. After an unsuccessful attempt to fix the malfunction, he gave a distress signal.

On board the tanker "Kama", the rescued traveler received first aid. At his request, he will be delivered to the nearest port.

The Commander-in-Chief of the Navy, Admiral Nikolay Evmenov, thanked the marching headquarters of the detachment of warships of the Northern Fleet and the crew of the tanker "Kama" for their professional actions in providing assistance to a yacht in distress in the open ocean.
