ABUJA—The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has distanced itself from the inclinations of former President Olusegun Obasanjo on the continuance of Alhaji Aminu Tambuwal as Speaker of the House of Representatives and membership of the party of former Governor of Ogun State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel.

The acting national chairman of the party Alhaji Abubakar Kawu Baraje at a media parley in Abuja yesterday also disclosed plans to recruit half of the Nigerian population into its fold before the end of the party’s ongoing registration and revalidation exercise.

The party’s rebuff of Obasanjo, the chairman of the PDP’s Board of Trustees came in the wake of the continuing campaign by the former President to restore the party’s zoning pattern which was distorted by the election of Tambuwal as Speaker and Rep. Emeka Ihedioha as deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives last June.

Obasanjo had at a meeting of the BOT few weeks ago demanded the resignation, in two years, of the duo as a way of restoring the zoning configuration of the party. He followed up his demand last weekend at the Southwest Strategic Zonal meeting in Abeokuta where he called on Tambuwal who is from the Northwest zone to leave the office which he said was wrongly usurped from the Southwest.

Unfortunately, we still have people who ought to have matured in their reasoning and posturing, but have refused to for reasons I cannot fathom.

This zoning consciousness is very detrimental. Was Tambuwal not elected? If we insist on zoning, then we should stop wasting time on elections.

OBJ should stay away please, do us that favour.

if a man like obasanjo (GEJ granpa) did not respect his old age and let the sleeping dog stay, am ashamed of him. his problem is tambuwal, what is he saying about the 16 billion dollar power project scam leveled against him and the way he uselessly privatized federal government properties to himself, associate and friends, his granson GEJ should come him to order or else, ? anyway a former prisoner can still be one when time come.zombie,he get luck fele(kuti) no dey alive.

Obasanjo is damanding for tambuwal's resignation because of zoning policy without requesting such from JEG? Baba is not sincere.

Leave Baba Iyabo alone, he is old and gradually becoming senile.

OBJ has expired. A man who does not know his true age. He should stop compounding problems for himself. He is not relevant in any field as far as Nigeria polity is concerned. He failed within 8 yrs and cannot be relevant at all now and in the future.

His true sense of reasoning has suffered medically and it is high time people stop listening to people like him and IBB when they talk. They are only good abusing themselves. Let him come out and explain to the Nation, what happened to $16 billion dollars electricity funds, as a civilian head of state and also the $2billion dollars missing, during his tenure as the Military head of state

These are the kind of questions that Nigerians should be confronting these so-called leaders with everywhere they turn. Those who loot public treasuries are worse than murderers and armed robbers.

Mr Obasanjo, what happened to the $16 billion dollars ?
