ASSOCIATION OF SENIOR STAFF OF BANKS, INSURANCE AND FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS (ASSBIFI)

*WE ARE NOT SABOTEURS*

Our attention has been drawn to the recent attacks on some of our institutions leading to the destruction of equipment, and damage to buildings while endangering the lives of our members and other staff of banks.

We strongly condemn this act which is borne out of the propaganda against banks as the sole cause of the inability of the public to have access to cash across the country.

We have seen a few videos of bank branches allegedly hoarding cash in their vaults. While we do not hold brief for these isolated cases or condone any verified bad behavior, we expect that the same sources of these videos to also project the many locations that have continued to provide cash to customers to have empty vaults due to the unavailability of cash.

Unfortunately, we do not deem it security conscious for us to share videos or pictures of our vaults with the public as professionals.
We are concerned about the safety of our members who, in the past few weeks have worked tirelessly EVERYDAY for long hours against the prescribed work hours just to ensure customers are able to deposit their old currency notes and make the new ones available for withdrawals at ATMs. This exercise has taken its toll on their health, work life balance, and families while being faced daily with the fear of physical assaults by irate customers.

While we assure the public of our commitment to ensure their pain is ameliorated, we appeal for calm and understanding at this time as we call on the security agencies to ensure the safety and security of our lives and bank property.

WE ARE NOT SABOTEURS* but are professionals who follow and implement policies of regulators and will never be engaged in any act that will bring our institutions or persons to disrepute.

ASSBIFI- Unity Is Strength

This policy was not well taught out or properly implemented. People are suffering not politicians are suffering.

Something should be done before it leads to anarchy.

APC sabotaging APC with incompetence. Please who are they blaming for fuel scarcity and high cost? Imagine a litre of PMS for N550 and selfish politicians are not crying over that one.

Probe further you will realise the 250m discovered in sterling Bank was kept for Baba bullion van. Who knows the threat Sanwolu have given the bank HQ in Lagos to reserve bullion money for election vote buying.

Kick out APC come February 25th, 2023

You are not saboteurs but SABO!

In 2011, a 29-year-old Australian bartender named Dan Saunders discovered an ATM glitch that allowed him to withdraw money far beyond his balance

In a bender that lasted nearly five months, he managed to spend about $1.6 million of the bank’s money.

GOD BLESS ZULUM for the below...

Any bank in Borno State unwilling to ensure their ATMs are fully dispensing new naira notes cash to ease the suffering of our people, we will withdraw their land title immediately.
We will only spare Banks with verifiable constraints,” Zulum said.He added that he was unhappy seeing hundreds of people queuing at a bank branch, with only one out of 10 ATMs dispensing cash
“As you can see here, only the less-privileged people are queued up. I didn’t see rich people here.
Many people are said to be here since 3:00 am; some could not even eat anything.
The new naira note and even the old ones are not available, which is adversely affecting commercial activities in the state, and people are suffering,” the governor said

Shame to all enemies of Nigeria,

Those that want no good news coming out from our darling nation.

The chaos, deaths, violence they want will never be far from their doorsteps as long as God lives.

CBN is actually using propaganda against the commercial Banks. These Banks are being giving very little new notes to give to give to numerous customers.

Imagine the weak public statement issued after selling cash to the highest bidder.

What stops you guys from issuing a statement to all your members, declaring with strong reasons why they should not hoard cash, nor sell to friends.
The worst is GTB, Zenith, Ecobank and Sterling. These guys deliberately refuse to load their cash into machines, I do not understand, how hard a job that is? there are so many cash containers, all you have to do is arrange them and load one after the other.

CBN mob 2.7tr as at last Sunday and only printed 900bn in an election period that politicians need all the cash they can get is a policy that will guarantee public unrest and protest but unfortunately bank staff are at the receiving end of such policy
