Nigerian singer, Peter Okoye, has stated that Seun Kuti, a Nigerian musician and youngest son of the Afrobeat pioneer, Fela Anikulapo Kuti is irrelevant without his father’s name.

Peter blasted Seun in a series of posts shared on his Twitter handle on Wednesday.

Trouble started when Seun referred to the Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi as an opportunist.

Peter Okoye had rushed to Obi’s defence triggering a back and forth which led to Seun accusing him and his twin brother of campaigning for president Buhari in 2015.

In his response, Peter said, ”We PSQUARE have never campaigned for any Presidential candidates before now except for PETER OBI. Did we perform for President Buhari during his inauguration in 2015 YES. He was already the President! GO AND VERIFY.

Seun, you need to become Obidient!

The Seun of a guy is just a confused individual! His type pretend to be ‘dispassionate’ and ‘neutral’ when analysing Nigerian politics, and this is when you find them lumping Peter Obi together with Atiku and Tinubu…pretending ALL are the same and bad for Nigeria! But you hardly see them come out to actively campaign for that alternative or 3rd force they think is better! I can bet you he’s a closeted Tinubu supporter!

According to Mr Kuti, the last son of late Afrobeat legend Fela Anikulapo Kuti, the person would have gone to every Local Government and had his structure.

He might "would have", but the legend Fela Anikulapo Kuti mostly campaigned in the shrine and had no structure, but I guess Seun might have been too young to know that.

Naptu2, what Seun fails to realise is, only under the old thinking is it thought that any one single individual can effect positive change in Nigeria or that the Senate can stand in the way of the people who want change.

We shall see, I hope, since Obi first needs to win, but Seun's "The Labour Party has a socialist structure. Peter Obi is a capitalist", shows how naive Seun is being since we Nigerians are mostly sociocapitalist, once one considers how many beg for their subsidised daily bread.

Naptu2, I too have seen this thing before, "Politicians say the same thing .... People get taken in by these things", but unlike you, at every election I see tiny progress of people's eyes opening instead of living in dreams.

Take bubu's Next Level and 4x4 of the last election and tell me people have not learnt that politicians lie a bit. It's not everyone, nor even a majority, but fewer would fall for that so easily today, especially considering bubu called many lazy fuqs, and fewer will fall for such antics the more we reap what we sow in ignorance.

Nothing makes humans learn the errors of their ways more than the suffer their ways reward them with, which will no doubt continue whoever we elect, though I feel we'd be more responsible for our future under novice Obi than the others.

Therefore, could Peter Obi be our Abacha? (that's if he wins).

Naptu2, I think it is one of the other two who, if either wins, that would be today's Abacha (as opposed to your "our" since Abacha was ours).

Electing either of the other two sanctions them doing the abachaness we are told they've always done, while we Obidients have had our eyes shinned by the abachaness of, if not Buhari, definitely of those other two, so we will deplore it amongst ourselves.

It was not Buhari or Idiagbon at the post office, bank and busstop telling us to queue, but we who mounted WAI amongst ourselves, and we can do it again.

You began your post with "I think"

Of course, one thinks. It's not as if I actually know. To be more honest, I hope.

There's absolutely no difference between them. .
But there is a lot of difference between them, naptu2. They think different and believe different and reason different and have different policies and ideologies, and different supporters from whom they will choose their cabinet, so their presidency is bound to differ.

And there is a difference between us now and those of us of the past at least as far as understanding and expectations and our ability to use tools to yell when expectations are not met.

It's a democracy. Progress is so slow that it's often only seen in hindsight, which is why "people that made those posts are his biggest promoters now!" Their eyes were just slow to open till they'd experienced worse, just like our eyes have been opened a bit more by bubu.

napt2: "I have written many times on this thread that if a candidate is good, then you should be able to defend that candidate without mentioning any other".

And you must have written it in your thread where it's impossible to quote and challenge what you think one should do.

The candidates have held office in the past which sensible people would use to judge their suitability to hold future office, and it's silly to not compare candidates seeking such office. Even in recruitment we compare our most shortlisted candidates. Damn! Some compare Messi and Ronaldo!

I think your error is in "good", which I'd demote to better, in one's opinion, which does call for comparison, but worse is "candidate". What's better about an Obi presidency (or regime, as we called these things under military), is, lots of those currently in APC and PDP who haven't already joined Labour will be frozen out for a while until they reposition. That's a good thing.

It's not about any individual candidate being good or even better, but about which candidates presidency might provide the better opportunity, which we hope will be positive, and a decluttering of current leaders is very good, in my opinion, as little as it's likely to be.
