CBN, DSS, these institutions only answer to the president of Nigeria.

You people should know where your strength starts and end.

People are still accepting old notes sha but real trouble will start on Monday when they realise that they can not deposit said notes to bamk

Ignorance is a disease to such persons.

Don't be surprise to hear Buhari to give an order for immediate arrest on anybody that causes obstruction in banks because of the old notes

Know that CBN now ONLY accepts the old notes but you will get NOTHING in return. So if you come to a bank with the old notes they will refer you to go and deposit it at CBN in your states bearing in mind you will not be credited

CBN is on their own o. Spending my old naira notes jejely. Tinubu the armed robber of Lagos state and Buhari his friend are just using our head to play snooker. They pretend to fight during the day but party together during the night. So why should I suffer and kill myself over two evil old men using us to catch cruise

You think we are in the military era? The president, CBN and all of us are under the law. Buhari don't have such right except he wants to see what's morethan #EndSars protest and this time it will be the whole country (including the north) against him. Eventually, the right thing will be done and nobody will lose money.

Like a lawyer opined on Twitter it seems the deed has been done

Majority of the old funds are already with the CBN, and they can do what they like with it

And the CBN was not even a party in the first place, the matter don tie big wrapper like this

What I expected the apex court to do is to order the release of the new notes cos that's where the problem lies not spending the old notes

My problem with some of you on nairaland is your myopic way of seeing things. Just because I stated my point I've become a "lover of corrupt drug baron". If truly this policy is against the so called drug baron then why won't Buhari use that power you claimed he has to arrest a common man for depositing his money at the bank to locate where the "drug baron" hid this humongous amount of cash he wants to use to buy vote? Why punish the rest of us along with the drug baron?

You can still deposit it even beyond the deadline, the CBN was clear on this, na the new notes just dey scarce

I think the court case sef is wrong cos na the new notes we need eventually as CBN don take a larger part of the old notes away

The CBN must obey valid judgements from the Supreme court of Nigeria. The SC must be respected at all times.

The judgement tho is that the old notes remain legal tender until at least Feb 15 when the substantive suit is taken at the SC, however CBN has already mopped up the old naira notes (and destroyed them?) so in a way nothing will really change until Feb 15 at least as the SC never asked the CBN to bring the old notes back.

Only the huge old notes stocked by politicians(APC and PDP) can be used bw now and Feb 15. By Feb 15, the case will be dismissed or taken to Federal high court where it ordinarily should have gone to 1st

The three governors that took the CBN to court are idiots. They should have asked the court to compel the CBN to make the new notes more available to Nigerians but instead, the asked the court to compel the CBN to allow Nigerians continue spending the old notes. Why are they so interested in the old notes? What is their obsession with the old notes?

The CBN will obey it.

No matter how out of place the judgement might be the Court has spoken.

It is instructive for us to also know that this is an ex-parte judgement which is granted without hearing from the other side.

In Nigeria laws, ex-partes are only but interim, I think 14 days, the next said date for sitting on the substantive suit is 15th February.

So, spend your old notes o.
