2023: Atiku, Tinubu’s camp trade tackle over Peter Obi’s massive rally in Lagos

The camps of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar and the All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Tinubu on Saturday exchanged words over the Labour Party, LP, presidential rally in Lagos State.

LP presidential candidate, Peter Obi’s supporters embarked on a road walk from Lekki-Epe expressway to the Tafabalewa Square in Lagos.

The rally was said to have caused a massive traffic gridlock along the Lekki-Epe expressway.

Reacting, Tinubu-Shettima Director of Media and Publicity, Bayo Onanuga accused Obi of conducting an uncivilized campaign.

In a tweet, Onanuga accused Obi of causing discomfort to the people of Lagos State.

Onanuga wrote: “Peter Obi and his supporters are doing a road walk in Lagos, causing massive traffic jam on the ever busy Lekki-Epe expressway.

“His rally is at TBS on the island. But he chose to cause discomfort to Lagosians. An uncivilized way to campaign in our city.”


However, Atiku’s spokesman, Phrank Shaibu wondered why Onanuga should complain about Obi’s rally.

Shaibu recounted how MC Oluomo prevented Christians from going to church when he had a walk for Tinubu on October 9, 2022.

He queried Onanuga if Atiku and Obi complained about MC Oluomo’s action.

“@officialABAT’s ailment appears communicable! Did #MC Oluomo not prevent #christian worshippers from going to church when he held a walk for Tinubu on Sunday October 9, 2022?

“Did the @atiku or @PeterObi supporters complain? @OfficialAPCN & moslem/moslem ticket,” he tweeted.

What does Onanuga (a migrant from a village in Ekiti) meant by "in our city"? Did he created or built Lagos from scratch? Why are Tinubu's surpporters claiming to own Lagos, a city that was already developed before they migrated there in?

The God that Peter Obi serves has a way of setting a table for him in the presence of his enemies after every successful campaign. How can a "social media president" and a "four people tweeting in a room" party be causing traffic on a busy road in the heart of city boy’s Lagos?? People were attacked some stabbed by obvious political thugs, the same kind that attacked the PDP guber candidate in the same Lagos. But somehow, it’s only traffic that Mr. Bayo cares to be bothered about. Thank God that in a few weeks time, the likes of these two will no longer been seen or heard from again.

No matter how you express your beef and anger against H.E Peter Obi there are facts you cannot change which include;

1. He ran the most secured state in Nigeria during his tenure. Former IGP Abubarkar gave him 5 years accollades of the most secured state back to back for 5 years.

2. The minister of works then gave him the best accolade of a governor that built 800km of road network in 8years over 230 roads

3. Educationally , He met Anambra at 26th position in 2006 and left it at 1st by 2014 when he was leaving.

4. He was the only governor that met the millennium development goal in Nigeria in both education and health. In fact , Milinda and bill gate foundation gave him a personal gift of 1 million dollar for his achievement. Which he dropped in the state account rather than putting in his own private account.

5. He is the only former governor today that does not collect pension, gratuity, land gift and allowances since he left the govt in 2014.

6. When he became SEC chairman under President Jonathan, he told SEC to hold back all his allowance and entitlement as a Board chairman . He left without nothing. He said he does not need them.

7. When he was chairman of fidelity bank , he was entitled to two brand new cars annually. He told the board. I don't need them. Let me just come for meetings and go home.

You can only be angry with him. You cannot change the facts.

Today's rally in Lagos took them unawares. They were monitoring TBS while Peter Obi took the campaign direct to the streets. Someone without structures is causing a massive traffic gridlock.
