The Obi-Datti Presidential Campaign Council on Monday says the unholy alliance between the Independent National Electoral Commission and the Chairman of Lagos State Parks Management Committee, Musiliu Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo, is an indication that the country’s electoral umpire is not ready for the forthcoming general election.

This is even as the PCC called of the redeployment of the Resident Electoral Commissioner in Lagos, Olusegun Agbaje, saying his recent statements reeked of sectional bias and partisanship.

The concerns were raised by the Director General of the Labour Party Presidential Campaign Council, Akin Osuntokun, on Monday in Abuja.

Osuntokun told journalists that when the news filtered in that INEC had engaged the services of the Lagos State Park and Garage Management Committee led by MC Oluomo, who is a known loyalist of the APC presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, to distribute sensitive election materials at the elections, they didn’t take it seriously.

He said, “We initially took the allegation with a pinch of salt, believing that INEC was conscious of red lines in these elections and that common sense and logic would not permit such arbitrariness.

“However, as days passed by, it became clear to us that the news report was correct, especially as the explanation given by INEC National Commissioner for Information and Voter Education, Festus Okoye, does not go far enough in refuting this association.”

According to him, the provocative action of INEC in entrusting the conveyance of election materials into the hands of political party agents is reprehensible and unprecedented in the annals of Nigeria’s electoral history.

The political scientist stated that he found the insensitivity of the electoral body to the public outcry on the glaring partisan engagement of MC Oluomo as a major logistics contractor in Lagos quite disturbing, an act that he said is capable of jeopardizing the election operation.

“In addition, recent public statements by the Resident Electoral Commissioner in Lagos State, Olusegun Agbaje, bordering on sectional bias and resentment, have shown overwhelming partisanship on his side, and therefore, he cannot be trusted with the onerous task of conducting an unbiased election in a volatile state like Lagos.

“We recall further, with apprehension, that the heavily criticised 2018 Osun State governorship rerun election, wherein Mr. Gboyega Oyetola was controversially declared the winner to the dismay of the populace, including international observers, was also conducted by this same Olusegun Agbaje.

“It is therefore, against the above backdrop, that we demand an immediate cancellation of the logistics contract between INEC and MC Oluomo.

“We also want an immediate redeployment and blacklisting from any election duty, anywhere, of the Lagos REC, Olusegun Agbaje, whose recent actions have raised doubts about his suitability as an election supervisor.

“There are far too many capable Nigerians of good professional and ethical standard available within INEC, to conduct an acceptable election, than to run the risk of any unpopular pre-determined outcome, which his conduct, strongly suggests,” he said.

Truth be told, I don't support INEC using these transport workers to move electoral materials be it before or after the voting exercise. Almost all of them are for Asiwaju, and there is no guarantee the ballots won't be compromised. Even if the ballots are not compromised, LP that stood no chance of winning in Lagos, and PDP will cry foul that the election is not free and fair.

Anyway, Asiwaju lo kan!

Inec! Inec!! Inec!!!
Sometimes, I do ask my self, "Who did this to Nigeria?"

At this point, I don't even advice that you should vote your conscience cause your conscience might be heavily uninformed and tribalised.

Vote LP / ObiDatti for a Greater Nigeria!

Just looking for excuse for their imminent defeat.

If INEC yield to every political parties demands then election will never hold.

Is like Inec is testing our resolve in this coming election. That thing they are looking for, they will receive it in full. This time around, not even abroad can save them. We will block every rout out of this country and ensure that poetic Justice is carried out accordingly upon anyone who tries to rig/interfere with this election. Mark my words!

What's the noise on the use of commercial bus drivers to transport INEC materials

This is not peculiar to Lagos state, and it didn't start at this election or will end at this election.

All over the States, INEC uses public transport drivers to transport their materials over the years, this year won't be an exception.

Do we have any State in Nigeria, where the heads of NURTW are not loyal to the State Governor NON!

Yes, they are called park managers in Lagos, OYO , Osun and Anambra because of the issue the local excos of NURTW had with National body....it's the same people, only the name of the association was changed.

So, either it's Park Manager or NURTW na same operational models. They collect unregulated taxes from their members..nothing more.

This has been the case, and nothing will change this

They think they can stampede everyone to submission. Why not go and remove the Rec yourself? After all you asked him direct question why your people didn't get their pvc and he gave direct answer. Moreover, you can bring Onitsha, Anambra transporters' union to come and distribute election materials in Lagos since only you get craze for head.
