But why have they kept mute on their stand until now? They initially said that they are obeying the court ruling. Where are we now?

No no. The CBN was not a party to the Supreme Court judgement. The Supreme Court restrained the FG, but the FG has no power over CBN so its a redundant judgement.

If you are going to heat up the polity, at least have the decency to provide an authoritative source!

What is it with trigger-happy Nairalanders who seem to relish making the blood boil? cool

The Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, has said that there was no need to shift the February 10, 2023 deadline.

He said this during a visit on Tuesday to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to discuss the monetary and currency redesign policy of the bank.

He said, β€œThe situation is substantially calming down since the commencement of over-the-counter payments to complement ATM disbursements and the use of super-agents.

P.S: Talawaka is heading off to join states in the suit against the FGN. angry

CBN did not disobey anything. The supreme court never had any jurisdiction in the first place for starters and secondly the supreme court ruled against the FG and not CBN.

CBN is under FG. No entity in Nigeria is bigger than the Supreme Court. This is just rascality influenced by Buhari's own legendary disregard for judicial pronouncements.
