The Federal Government and the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) are yet to take a stance on the legality of currency as legal tender contrary to speculation, the Presidency has clarified.

In a terse statement sent to the Tribune Online on Tuesday night, Garba Shehu, Senior Special Assistant to the President, said it is not true that preemptive action has already been taken on the matter.

He said the position of government will be made known after the determination of the suit at the Supreme Court.

“We wish to state that it is not true that the Federal Government or the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN have taken a preemptive action on the legality of currency as a legal tender in view of the pendency of the case before the Supreme Court.

“The position of the government and the CBN will be made known upon the determination of the suit coming up tomorrow,” the presidential aide stated.

So you don't know the CBN have giving orders to the banks to stop receiving the old notes?

Th Supreme Court ask for "Status Quo To Remain The Way It Is" till the court listen and give judgement today, but Emefiele still gave an order to the banks to start rejecting the old notes

Well, I'm eager to see what the Supreme Court will do today

Wishes of the masses shall come to pass because This suffering is unbearable

Then Mr Emefiele needs to be queried.

The suffering is too much and we're left in the dark....



Apparently, the supreme court and the FG will have to listen to the masses....


Either there is more money to go round or we manage the two currencies simultaneously.....

This too will soon end and everybody will rest and move to the next

Two things, it’s either the Supreme Court throws out the case or Buhari will disobey whatever kangaroo judgment they give.

The Naira redesign policy must succeed.

Nobody will be allowed to buy the 2023 elections up with ill gotten wealth that they throw around without flinching.

Supreme Court has no business with monetary policy.
