The currency swap policy which is intended to usher the country into a cashless economy will exacerbate corruption rather than curb it.

Many people that are arguing in favour of the policy regarding vote buying are myopic. The election comes once in 4 years when politicians bribe their way to power, but what about the daily bribery that this careless policy is going to promote?

During the subsidy probe, we saw how a legislator stuffed a dollar into his cap while there was a rumor of another one stuffing it in his babariga. Now with the cashless policy, institutions, and corporations would no longer need to carry Ghana-must-go bags to share money with politicians and government agencies, they would rather source for dollars and other foreign currency with higher value and save themselves loads of worthless naira.

The exchange rate would increase because people would now depend on foreign currencies to bribe, just as it is presently being done in some institutions, agencies, and corporate organizations in Nigeria, we are approaching an era where bribing is going to be dollarized.

May God help us.

Tinubu supporters reason opposite from other parts of the world.

How can a system that effectively tracks transactions promote corruption?
You think politicians loot your money via transfers?

This is not meant for techno brain like you, we are talking about daily bribery going on in our institutions and private corporation in collaboration with government representatives you are limiting it to election, that shows your limited knowledge about what is going on in your country

don't worry, after Obi wins, those he would appoint would not have a history of looting.

He himself would not loot and he has promised to be in charge, unlike Buhari who is not in charge

For the last time. . . . The common man in Nigeria is not interested in foreign currency.
Stick to the topic.
Other civilized countries do not have their citizens roaming around the streets with G-M-G bags loaded with cash like drug-dealers and pimps.

Remember this dude that accepted money from Nigerian politicians and hid it in his freezer? grin
