Can The Supreme Court Revoke The Naira Redesign Policy? (Video)

Controversies have trailed the recently implemented naira redesign policy which saw the mopping up of nearly 3 million naira's worth of old naira notes, with only about 500 billion worth of new notes released to the public.

Aggrieved politicians who saw their moves to engage in vote buying ruined by the naira redesign took the case to the Supreme Court for a possible reversal of the policy.

The case will be heard on the 22nd of February, 2023. However, in a move to stifle any opposition to the new policy that may arise from the supreme court's judgment, the president in a state wide broadcast announced that the old notes were no longer legal tender and ordered the CBN and the law enforcement to jointly carry on with the policy, and arrest anybody found to be sabotaging the policy.

The question now is, with the presidential executive order backing the policy and ending the use of the old notes in Nigeria, can the Supreme Court still revoke the policy?
