Atletico Madrid football club, a team in the Spanish La Liga, has joined the competition to acquire the services of Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen from Napoli.

Interestingly, Osimhen has been catching the eye of top European clubs this season. And this is due to his impressive performances for Napoli this season. So far, he has scored 18 goals in 19 league games, breaking records in the process.

The 24-year-old striker has already reached the milestone of 100 club-record goals before Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi in his early career, further adding to his credentials.

As a result, major Premier League clubs such as Manchester United and Chelsea are keen to sign the Nigerian international. And the aim is to boost their attacking options.

Despite Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis stating that Osimhen is not for sale and increasing his salary to deter suitors, Chelsea has reportedly shown strong interest in acquiring the striker.

The club is willing to offer Romelu Lukaku plus cash to Napoli. And this indicates their determination to secure the Nigerian’s signature.
