WARRI – One week to the 2023 general elections, the Peoples Democratic Party in Udu Local Government Area of Delta State has suffered a huge setback with the defection of over 2000 members to the opposition All Progressives Congress, APC, with a promise by the decampees to sink the PDP in the coming elections.

Leading the decampees at a rally that held at Orhuwhorun, Udu Local Government Area of Delta State, Comrade Austin Eyarubure, foremost youth leader from Emadadja town in Udu Ward 4, declared that he was fed up with the Peoples Democratic Party because the reward system in the PDP is agonizing fueling grave discontent that has snowballed into huge consequences to the fortune of the PDP lately.

Comrade Eyarubure expressed confidence in the ability of the APC to take over Delta State in the coming elections, explaining that ‘’the cabal who is in charge of things in Udu must fall in the coming elections. I and my team of coordinators, from all the wards in Udu have resolved to dump the PDP for the APC. There are many others back home who are not here today who are still coming to join us in the coming days.

‘’We have suffered enough under the PDP. The party has no regard for youths who are politically upright and determined to move forward. There is a gang of touts leading the PDP in Udu and we cannot be part of such a cabal with no regards for human relationship. We have enlisted in a national party with respect for the zoning arrangement in Nigeria. The Presidency is coming to the south and Asiwaju Bola Tinubu is the next President of Nigeria.


‘’We use this medium to pledge total loyalty to the Deputy President of the Nigerian Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, the in-coming governor for his forthrightness and aggressive concern for the progress of Delta State. The time to rescue the state from the PDP is now and Ovie Omo-Agege is poised to lead the charge. PDP is down and out. Thank God we are free”, Eyarubure declared.


One of the decampees, Comrade Ese Ogboru who also spoke during the rally, expressed confidence that with the caliber of people that would be joining the APC in the coming days, PDP will receive the beating of the lives in the general elections, assuring that more persons were on their way to the APC shortly.

Receiving the decampees during the event, Chairman of the PDP in Udu LGA, Comrade David Rheriobore expressed delight with the new entrants into the APC family, assuring them of equal support with old members for the progress of the party.

He assured further that APC was going to win the next election and that those working with Godwin Emefiele to inflict pains on the masses have been exposed to be PDP governors like Ifeanyi Okowa and that Okowa cannot sink Delta State to fund a failed vice presidential ambition.

Rheriobore charged the APC in Udu to go for victory in all elections as the party was ready to move into Government House, Asaba by May 29, 2023.

Party leaders present at the event include Chief C.C.I Whiliki, Chief John Olomu, Hon Isreal Macauley, Barr Ovie Collins Egbetamah, House of Assembly candidate for House of Assembly among many others.
