The leader of the Afenifere, Pa Ayo Adebanjo, has called on Nigerians and political parties to work together in support of the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, ahead of the forthcoming presidential election scheduled for Saturday.



Adebanjo made the appeal at an event where the LP and the Boot Party (BP) declared an alliance at his residence in Lekki, Lagos.

The BP gubernatorial candidate in Lagos State, Mr. Wale Oluwo, has withdrawn from the race, paving the way for the LP candidate, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, to form an alliance with the party. The elder statesman believes that it is the turn of the South-East to produce the next president of Nigeria, and Mr. Obi’s victory would put an end to the perceived marginalization of the Igbo.

Rhodes-Vivour, who is the LP governorship candidate, also spoke at the event, emphasizing the need for the alliance to redefine governance in Lagos State. He expressed his delight at the alliance and said that it would enable both parties to create funding opportunities that will benefit the majority of Lagosians.
