Keep off: DIG warns non-state actors

The Deputy Inspector General of Police, in charge of the Department of logistics and Supply and the supervisory DIG in charge of South-East, John Ogbonnaya Amadi, has warned non-state actors to keep off and allow elections to hold in the South-East.

DIG Amadi gave the warning on Friday during a visit to the Anambra State Police Command.


He reaffirmed the Command's readiness to ensure that elections were hitch-free, safe and peaceful in the state, stating that the movement of sensitive materials had begun.

A statement in that respect by the state Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Tochukwu Ikenga read in part, "The Deputy Inspector General of Police, in charge of the Department of logistics and Supply and the supervisory DIG in charge of South East, *DIG John Ogbonnaya Amadi mni* on a tour of election security in the southeastern state visited Anambra State Police Command today 25/2/2023 and reaffirmed the Command readiness to ensure the election are hitch-free, peaceful and safe.

"The DIG during interaction with the members of the fourth realm estate notes that the movement of sensitive materials has begun in the state, warns non-state actors to keep off and states that the Election must hold in the Southeast.

"He also charged the Strategic Commanders and officers deployed for this election to discharge their duties professionally and remain civil in their dealings with the public, especially the electorates and provide security and safety for all in their respective areas of assignment. They are also to be alert, and vigilant to prevent untoward incidents or unforeseen developments.

"In attendance includes, the Assistant Inspector General of Police AIG Eboka Friday psc, DSSRS, Commissioner of Police Anambra State Police Command CP Echeng Echeng, CP Selem.V. Amachere, CP Julius.A. Okoro and some other senior officers. "
