Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a decree granting Russian citizenship to French journalist Adrien Bocquet.

According to the corresponding presidential decree, which was posted on the official portal of legal information on Friday, Russian citizenship was granted to 34 people. Four individuals were striped of Russian citizenship by the same decree.

A former French military officer, Adrien Bocquet served as an expert on NATO weapons in Donetsk. Apart from that, he deals with volunteer matters. He was the first Western volunteer to say publicly that the Bucha incident was a provocation staged by the Ukrainian army. Earlier, he was prosecuted in France and survived an assassination attack by Ukrainian nationalists in Istanbul.

Bocquet applied for Russian citizenship in January.
