SYNW GREETS RAZINAT MOHAMMED ON HER BIRTHDAY

The Society of Young Nigerian Writers (SYNW) wishes to extend warm felicitations to one of Nigeria's most distinguished literary icons, Razinat Talatu Mohammed, on the occasion of her birthday. Razinat is a renowned feminist literary critic, award-winning author, and influential academic with numerous publications to her credit.
Razinat Talatu Mohammed's journey in the world of literature has been remarkable. Her extensive research and writing have had a significant impact on the study and understanding of African literature, especially in the areas of feminist literary criticism and gender studies. Her critical insights and innovative ideas have enriched the discourse on African literary studies and contributed to the development of literary scholarship in Nigeria and beyond.
Razinat's literary prowess is further evident in her award-winning works of fiction. Her novels, Habiba and The Travails of a First Wife, have both received critical acclaim and recognition. In 2013, Habiba was a finalist at the Association of Nigerian Authors’ prize for prose, while The Travails of a First Wife was published in 2015.
Razinat has also contributed to several anthologies and collections of poetry, including Camouflage: The Best of Contemporary Writings from Nigeria, Fireflies: An Anthology of New Nigerian Poetry, and Pyramids: An Anthology of Poems from Northern Nigeria, among others. Her creative works have been published both locally and internationally, underscoring the depth of her reach and the universality of her themes.
In addition to her literary achievements, Razinat Talatu Mohammed is also an accomplished academic. Her articles and book chapters have been published in prestigious international journals on African literature, including the African Literature Today series in Suffolk, UK, and Routledge, UK. She has authored several academic books, including Intra-gender Relations between Women: A Study of Nawal El-Saadawi and Buchi Emecheta’s Novels, published by Lambert Academic Publication, Germany, and Female Representation in Nigerian Literature, among others.
Razinat's contributions to the Nigerian literary scene have been recognized and appreciated by numerous organizations. She was a two-time judge for the prestigious Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) Prize for literature in 2015 and 2017. She was also a Resident Writer in El-Gouna, Egypt, from May to July 2011. Since 2013, she has been the Chief Adjudicator for the annual Senior Secondary Schools National Essay Competition tagged, Wole Soyinka International Cultural Exchange (WSICE) in honour of Prof. Wole Soyinka.
SYNW joins the literary community in celebrating Razinat Talatu Mohammed's achievements and contributions to African literature. Her groundbreaking work in feminist literary criticism and gender studies, as well as her exceptional creative writing, has helped to elevate the profile of African literature and inspired generations of writers.
On behalf of the Society of Young Nigerian Writers, we wish Razinat Talatu Mohammed a very happy birthday, good health, and continued success in all her future endeavors. We are grateful for her contributions to the Nigerian literary scene and look forward to more impactful works from her.
