BVAS Benefits in Nigeria

The Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) is the game changer in Nigeria's election. Kindly list and explain its benefits

The Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) is an electronic system used in Nigeria's electoral process to verify and accredit voters before they can cast their ballots. The system was first introduced in the 2015 general elections and has been used in subsequent elections. Some of the benefits of the BVAS system are:

1.Improved Accuracy: The BVAS system uses biometric technology to capture and verify the fingerprints and facial features of voters. This makes it more accurate than the previous manual system, which was prone to errors and fraud.

2.Speed and Efficiency: The BVAS system is faster and more efficient than the manual system. With the BVAS system, the accreditation process takes less time, and the voting process is smoother and quicker.

3.Transparency: The BVAS system enhances transparency in the electoral process. Voters can see their accreditation details displayed on the BVAS screen, which helps to build trust and confidence in the system.

4.Reduction in Voter Fraud: The BVAS system has helped to reduce voter fraud in Nigeria's elections. The system detects and prevents multiple voting and impersonation, which were common in the manual system.

5.Cost Savings: The BVAS system is cost-effective, as it eliminates the need for manual accreditation and reduces the number of polling staff required. This results in cost savings for the electoral commission and the government.

6.Data Collection: The BVAS system collects and stores data on voters, which can be used for future elections and other purposes. This data can help to improve the electoral process and aid in policy formulation and planning.

In summary, the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) is a game-changer in Nigeria's electoral process, and its benefits include improved accuracy, speed, transparency, reduction in voter fraud, cost savings, and data collection.

BVAS was just overhyped, this is Nigeria where majority are criminal minded. Technology is biased to the extent that its use is directed towards, what particular difference is there between 2019 and 2023 elections? There is None.
Particularly this usual delay in announcing the results over 48 hours after the conclusion of the voting exercises.
