Salary Is A Right, Not A Privilege. by lavylilly: 10:28pm On Feb 28, 2023
Salary is a Right, not a Privilege.

In recent times, it has been an argument about what Salary actually is. We have seen situations where some employers (Not All) treat the issue of salary with levity and this has got to stop

There are terms and conditions guiding this principle of what should be with regard to salary, whether it's a right or a Privilege.

If someone works for you, he/she is entitled to his Salary/wages and this should be articulated as a matter of right and not privilege.

Before employment with any employee, there are terms and contracts that were signed, this is to say if you do ABC with us as an organization we will, in turn, pay you a certain amount monthly, before we finalize all terms and contracts, we Negotiate what both parties before accepting an offer, the reason no one forces you into signing an employment offer with any Organisation. If you are not okay with the terms, you decline the offer.

If I as an employee play my part in the bargain, it is my right that you return what is due to me at the end of the month.

It is totally unacceptable when employers treat Salary Matter how they deem fit, not paying on time, deducting salaries at will, or not paying what was signed as an offer because. I have heard someone say during a discussion that her employer expects that you say thank you every time you get paid and if you don't, you get your punishment the following month, how do we explain such behavior?

Employees are to be valuable to the organizations they work for as is the utmost expectation, when an employee is falling short of his/her objectives, it is appropriate to do the needful process and let them go.

If an employee is in an organization it is the employer's right that the said employee works as expected and when the employee does the work, it is the employee's right to get paid at the end of the month

I believe Salary is a Right, not a Privilege.

What's your Take?

Sometimes it's the attitude of some workers that makes bosses feel paying salaries to their workers is doing them a favor.

Workers should understand that salary is their entitlement, they worked for it and deserve the pay. So they shouldn't see it as collecting free money or begging for money. Just a simple thank you is enough after receiving your salary , no need to bow or prostrate or behave as though your life depends on it.
