The elections have come and gone, and a winner declared, in the person of Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

However, the elections, collation, and subsequent announcements by the electoral commission were marred by the most blatant displays of corruption and manipulation ever witnessed in Nigeria’s national existence.

Results were brazenly manipulated and distorted, polling unit and collation center agents openly threatened, voters attacked and disenfranchised. The election has been deemed the very worst, ever conducted in Nigeria.

A heavy feeling of anxiety and impending doom continues to be felt across the country since the declaration of the APC candidate as winner of the polls. And with the numerous irregularities observed during the elections, it remains to be seen if the APC candidate will be sworn in come the 29th of May, 2023.

Already, the Labour Party candidate, who the majority believe to be the actual winner of the polls, has held a press briefing announcing that he will retrieve the mandate for Nigerians.
