Pioneers of Blackberry services in Nigeria, Globacom, has again scored another first in the range with the formal launch of Blackberry Social and Blackberry Complete packages. The new plans are richer in offerings and are created for users of specific features.

The Complete Plan has BBM, BB Mail, Social Networking & IM Apps, Internet Browsing, Apps World and One E-mail id, while the Social Plan has BBM, BB Mail, Social Networking, and Internet Browsing & Apps World.

In a statement issued by the company in Lagos recently, the Group Chief Operating Officer, Mohammed Jameel said that Globacom decided to launch the special packages so the network could accommodate the needs and convenience of lovers of the service who could not afford the cost of the full Blackberry bundle. ‘’We are aware of the immense popularity of Blackberry@ in Nigeria and the desire of many to avail of the service. This is why we have launched Blackberry Social and Blackberry Complete, to cater for that category of our subscribers’’, he said.

Jameel also said that the Glo offerings are indeed the real thing, noting that it is the full version and therefore the very first of the said bundle. ‘’What we have launched is indeed the very first of the packages, in full form. That is why we are elated; that we continue to design and deploy products and services that meet the demand and convenience of our subscribers’’.

Significantly, the Glo package comes with the best tariff in the market, compared to what obtained, hitherto. The N 75 charged for a full day benefit on the Blackberry social, is N25 less than the prevailing market rate. The monthly plan of N1, 200 is N300 less than what obtains, currently. In the Blackberry complete, the subsisting rates of between N1, 500 – N2, 000 has been crashed to N1, 400, while subscribers on the weekly plan will pay just N400, down from N600 offered by competition.

Globacom launched Blackberry in Nigeria in August 2008, the very first network to do so and with a reputation for reliability and cost effectiveness.
