The Economy and Commerce of Lagos is under the control of the Igbos. Now the Politics is determined by the Igbos. On Saturday an Igbo hybrid will become the Governor-elect with an Igbo FirstLady. I repeat, Igbo First Lady.

Yorubas should learn to respect this fact, and note that Lagos is former Capital and belongs to all.

Nope, Mr. Jandor or whatever he is called is wrong.. Igbos crossed river Niger into South West to benefit from the friendly commerce and economic environment created by Yorubas in Lagos.

All the markets he mentioned were doing well under Yorubas till the Igbos came, pushed them out and monopolized everywhere.. what can never happen in South East.

Things happen for a reason and I am sure the real Yorubas have learnt a lesson or two from the feb 15 elections.. same hate they gave Awolowo, Akintola, M.K.O Abiola, Olu Falae, Tinubu, Osinbajo and now Sanwo Olu is the same hate they will give you the Yoruba reading this.

What is the fuss about Igbo in Lagos? Are they the only one in Lagos? We have ND people, NC and Hausa as well. Why Igbo like making more noises and causing unnecessary unrest in Lagos? Many people we referred to as Igbo in Lagos many of them aren't even Igbo, some of them are ND and other tribes.

Lagos state served as the capital of Nigeria from 1914-1991….for good 77 years, you don’t expect the level of development there to equate with that of other states. The Lagos Premiere Port complex at Apapa is the earliest and largest Port in Nigeria. The Port was established in 1913 and construction of the first four deep water berths commenced in 1921. This is what made Lagos the commercial center of Nigeria.

How many other states in Nigeria have operational or existing deep sea ports like Lagos? None. Not only Igbos, but all tribes troop into Lagos in their numbers on a daily basis because it’s the commercial center of the country. So what’s all the fuss about?

Most of you bigoted Yoruba urchins don’t deserve to use mobile phones or even access to internet service, because the distance between your brains and common sense is as long as third mainland bridge.
Bros, you for ask am why igbos are not tropping to Oshogbo or Ogbomosho to do the same business they are doing in Lagos?? Abi those towns no be Yoruba towns?
The way things are going in ABJ, tomorrow also they will say we are trying to over ride them to take over their lands?
Just like Lagos, so is Onitsha, Abuja and Port Harcourt even Dubai, cos they're Economic melting points. Igbos are Economic nomads.. just like the Northerners are Agro nomads and the Whole of Nigeria Economic migrants(because you see them all over the world irrespective of tribe and region) If we had all these infrastructural developments in our region, one will be thinking of moving out in search of a conducive environment.
Re: Igbo Contribute Immensely To Lagos Prosperity — Jandor by kokomilala(m): 8:47am On Mar 08, 2023
@loosecanon50, I think u need a lesson of two in history here. You were going on a hysterical rodeo ride of ethnic invidiousness here.

Lagos would have been a country on its own if not for the amalgamation of Nigeria in 1914. Long before then, Lagos had had interaction with the Portuguese in 1472. Where were the Igbos and Nigeria then?

On the commercial front, Lagos had long been the commercial hub of West Africa, and had been having impact on the Western world's policies. The Saros, Ghanaians, Togolese and other nationals were in Lagos in the early part of the 20th century. Where were the Igbos?

My own great grandfather, Badaru Ajao Abina, was a textile merchant, who contributed a lot to the socio-economic and political development of Lagos.

When he passed on on May 4, 1937, he had £18,000 in his Barclay's Bank account, 61 houses in the Olowogbowo area of Lagos, now called Balogun, and about 34 on the mainland. He used to own all the area around Unilag and Bariga. Where were the Igbos then?

I'm not denying that the Igbos have contributed to the commercial development of Lagos. What I'm trying to dispel is your notion that Lagos would not have developed if it had not been the federal capital. On the contrary, Lagos made Nigeria, in a sense, what it is.

Yoruba are not stupid people as you laboured to make them look. They are the richest tribe in Africa; the most educated in Nigeria, if not in Africa. And one of the most industrious in Africa, if not the world. What you praise as Igbo's industry is no more than vacuous commercialism- the act of buying and selling alone, which every tribe does. From Cairo to the Cape of Good Hope, you'll see people doing it. And from the North pole to the South Sea islands, you see people engaging in commerce.

Igbo's hatred of the Yoruba and covetousness of Lagos is no longer hidden. It's now become a case of hospitality gone wrong; that of accommodation taken too far. That's why I pray and will the break up of Nigeria in a peaceful way. So that everyone would go their own way. Then, what had always been taken for granted would be appreciated. Then, each region would develop at their own pace. Observers would then appraise their self-development.

Those markets he mentioned are just a fraction of Igbo contributions to the development of Lagos.

What will the Apapa wharf be like without Igbo importers, clearing and forwarding agents.
The largest Tank farm at Apapa was once owned by an Igbo man- Ifeanyi Uba.

Not to mention the Igbo industrialist and real estate moguls based mainly in Lagos.
Igbos helped develop Lagos Island.

Politics or not, IGBOS REALLY HELPED DEVELOPE LAGOS. That's not to be disputed. Facts are facts. It's not always tribal or ethnic Politics.

This election shows the amount of omoales that we have in Yorubaland. You want to be a governor of a Yoruba state but you are busy praising IBOs. What about northerners living in Lagos. Dangote own a refinery in lagos, a lot of Hausa people own properties in lagos, a lot of people from other tribes in Nigeria do business in lagos. Even Lebanese have houses and businesses in lagos but because this fool is a bastard, he as been praising IBO in a bid to get them to vote for him. So what are others tribes in lagos doing, are they not contributing aswell. If I'm a Northerner or from another tribe living in lagos, I won't vote for this clown. Sanwo olu, even though he is a Yoruba man as Carried everyone alone in lagos, but this fool continues to jump from one IBO shop to another, kissing their hairy ass just to win election. This jandor is another afonja of Ilorin, who thinks he can slideline his own people, work with refugees to gain power. We all know that omoales don't always end well, those people that he is praising will be the one to destroy him. Oloriburuku omoale.
God knows I extremely hate Yoruba liberals, awon omoale oloriburuku ti woni dele layo. Aye won mabaje ni.

Sanwo olu is the man
Election or no election, win or no win, sanwo olu will continue.

We can't continue with the false narattive that Igbos did this or that in Lagos.. Igbos aren't capable of development or anything and it shows in their shitty region where economy, IGR everything is zero. They look for fertile lands of other ethnicities to steal while they neglect their own lands cos of zero progress there.

That is how they keep running to Kano and other states to enjoy the goodies there while no ethnic group can go to East cos the region is dead and unproductive.

This tribal card, divide and rule your master started, will finish all of una.

The Eastern region is dead and unproductive and a Cameroonian was telling me how very industrious and resourceful Nigerians are as he had to do his business at Onitsha at a time. He even told me when I told him about how some of their people say Cameroon is bigger and he told me that if his people enter only Onitsha, they will be overwhelmed.

You people should stop playing this ethnic card game. I see why GRV gets emotional and blasts your type.

By this Logic of yours, the Yorubas did not "join hand" and "develop" other places? If the Igbos Elders had stayed behind and develop their own Land the way the Yoruba Elders and Hausa elders did, others would have coming to settle in their Lands.

I think it is a bit odd to go buy a Tv for your neighbours house in order for your kids to have the opportunity to watch one.

Really?

The igbos came and pushed them out, this is wonderful.... Please since when did Yoruba go into trading of buying and selling?

Igbos are thriving round Nigeria in their various businesses.

And mind you, Lagos as a state did not contribute or make any law to assist those doing business in Lagos, so calm down.

Igbos are very industrious people who spread prosperity and bring development everywhere they go…it’s not something to brag about, it’s who they are. Most educated and exposed Yoruba folks are well aware of this.

The percentage of those whose brains has been eaten deep by tribal bigotry don’t even make up to 10% of the entire Yoruba populace. They’re part of those who create bigoted threads everyday on Nairaland and other social media platforms, while some are doing owomida on the streets of Lagos.

IF Igbos are the custodians of IGBO then we beg them to keep the development to there region, does it makes sense to go and be furnishing your friend's apartment when you have an empty apartment.

Jandor is just being mischievous, IGBOS are not the only visitors in Lagos, there are other tribe as well that as contributed to the development of Lagos BuT they purposely pick on IGBOs becos they an enemy of my enemy is my friend, any opposition that want to attack Nigeria or attack Lagos always go through the Igbos , harsh but true

Do you know the total investment of Igbos in Lagos is not even up to 50% of Dangote refinery in Lagos. should hausas also feel entitled to rulership in Lagos

Some tribal dimwits here are mentioning DANGOTE refinery as proof that not only Igbos developed Lagos.
A refinery of just yesterday that has not even been opened.
Meanwhile Odumegwu Ojukwu has been investing in Lagos since the late 1940s. Built houses in Ikoyi. The rich Northerners of that time concentrated all their business in Kano.

Besides, with all the concessions given to Dangote and that Indian Chougry in the Lekki and Marina axis, Yorubas have lost Lagos for good. They never owned it anyway.

Your fathers sold your ancestral lands to attend Owanbe parties and spray money to Sunny Ade, Ebenezer Obey & Shina Peter, you grow up, instead of you to hustle and know if you can buy the lands back, you sold the remaining one and relocate to Sango, Ikorodu and other suburbs and spray the rest to Wasiu Ayinde, Pasuma Wonder and Small Doctor. Now the buyers of your lands are expanding and consolidating, you begin to cry like babies and start constituting go back to your land nuisance. Oga we are in the lands that we bought from you and will live comfortable on it because we pay you completely and even pay extra while building. You sold your lands and still wants to be landlord, no way. Oga stop crying because you can never eat your cake and have it
