This is very funny. I think this verification was done from a biased opinion from the onset probably by a Thieffnubu urchin.

The verdict on the second claim concerning the number of Nigerians living in abject poverty is totally biased. What is the meaning of the word 'estimate'? Both the NBS and Obi are both making estimates. So why should Obi's estimate be judged as false when the NBS has failed to provide data (fact) but also estimate?

The verdict on the third claim could stand on the grounds that Obi used the word 'highest'. But any progressive minded Nigerian should understand that for a country like Nigeria to be in league with Sierra Leone, Central African Republic and Somalia on infant mortality, then it's as good as having the highest. Also, not forgetting that these are all estimates. Nigeria being more populous could actually be having a higher number.

Now, for the verdict on the sixth claim, whether he used 90 percent or 70 percent, the truth is that Obasanjo got his highest votes from the south East and that is the point he was trying to make although he got the percentage wrong.

I won't go ahead with the rest because it's not worth the stress. I have come to observe that the verification is done not to learn or verify but to find a reason or two to call HE Peter Obi a liar.

Peter Obi is a politician with a difference. He is not a saint but he is better than Thieffnubu at the moment. The fact that he has an idea about the happenings around the world shows that he's actually reading. To be a good leader, you must be a good reader. We have never been able to verify anything about a certain candidate who hijacked the elections. I and all Obidients are strongly behind him as he fights to return power to the hands of the people.

God bless His Excellency Peter Obi
Nigeria's true president-elect

Charman, this guy should stop quoting statistics, he is just too much of him. He should talk more of solution with data that he is quoting. What is the essence of quoting statistics without any solution in sight.

@TrumpDonald2, why bother responding to lost souls. They should continue ‘circling the airport, instead of landing the plane ‘ . I feel sad and worried for the young ones who have a lot to loose . Nigeria is about to implode . The system of criminality and respect to the rule of law will surely hit everyone . The verifiers should keep dancing, instead of conveying accurate information .

Meanwhile, the stat below is really worrisome and our government need to work on this.

Claim X: “Life expectancy in the US is 72.5 years, in Nigeria, it is 54.

Verification: According to the most recent data (2021) from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Americans have an average life expectancy of 76.4 years, while Nigerians have an average life expectancy of 53 years World Bank (2020). UN projections for 2021 and 2022, also show Obi’s claim is inaccurate.
The figures he gave and that you gave are not much different. So where is the lie?

DUMB partisanship masquerading as “fact checking”…

The number of Nigerians living in extreme poverty is variously estimated at 88m, 98m and 105m, and therefore can be put at a median of about 95 million. https://guardian.ng/news/nigerians-living-in-extreme-poverty-now-105-million/

Furthermore, Peter Obi likely was relying on the WORLD BANK’s estimate of 95.1 Nigerians living in extreme poverty in 2022.
https://www.dataphyte.com/latest-reports/number-of-poor-persons-in-nigeria-to-rise-to-95-1-million-in-2022/

Nonetheless, instead of splitting hairs, Nigerians and the Nigerian government should be THOROUGHLY ASHAMED whether the more reliable ESTIMATE (emphasis added because these are actually estimated numbers, not absolutes).

Sadly, so many Nigerians specialize in chasing SHADOWS in derogation of substance! Peter Obi’s SUBSTANTIVE points were that we are headed in the WRONG DIRECTION on multiple fronts, but these lot are apparently celebrating we’re 4th (not Ist) in infant mortality. SMH

BTW, suffice it to point out that the World Bank puts Nigerians’ life expectancy at 55 years while the World Health Organization (WHO) has the same life expectancy of Nigerians as 63 years - because these figures are all ESTIMATES.
