Whenever we write or make posts on military coups, Nigeria-Biafra War & other "uncomfortable" events on Nigerian history, hypocrites in the comments would say, "You are dividing us," "this is not the right time," even when we didn't write anything differently, but reported events as they were and quoted directly what was said by the actors.

Now, what happened in 1966 is happening before our very eyes, when a certain ethnic group and other ethnic groups who looked like them were targeted and killed. They were struck down and their livelihood destroyed.

After the dust settled, the remnants were given £20 regardless of whatever they had in their bank accounts. When Gowon Nigerianised most companies after the war, this ethnic group didn't get a share. But they bounced back (that's a story for another day). Those who ignore history are doomed to repeat it.

Achebe said in 1994, "Until the lions have their own historians, the history of the hunt will always glorify the hunter." He also said, "The only thing we have learnt from experience is that we learn nothing from experience."

The wounds of the civil war still run deep, and there should be an honest conversation (not the Oputa Panel type) on how we should live together and be strong or hang separately and be vulnerable.

General Sani Abacha, Nigeria's brutal dictator and head of state, in his maiden speech on November 18, 1993, said: "Nigeria is the only country we have. We must, therefore, solve our problems ourselves."

The next step is how?

How do we live in a country whereby we can easily die and defend our ethnic groups more than for Nigeria itself? The world is not ready for a refugee crisis that may involve Nigeria. Even if 70 million people were to leave the country, legitimately, today, it will still be the most populous country in Africa.

What happened in the October 1965 Western Regional elections where thugs and political urchins were used to scatter elections and snatch ballot boxes are happening again before our very eyes. It led to the fall of the First Republic. The people did not go to court but took law into their hands.

It is befuddling that someone who was born and bred in a certain place is being asked to go back to his place. A place he's never been to, but heard. A place whose language he may not be able to speak.

We are all immigrants. We all came from somewhere. Let us build a society that posterity will be proud of. Let us love our neighbours as ourselves. This is the commandment that appeared the most times in the Bible (7).

Nigeria is warped in a balloon of hatred, unhealthy tribalism, terrorism, kidnapping, division, envy and avarice. We must deflate this balloon and prevent it from bursting. Or else, what happened in Rwanda in 1994 will be a child's play.

Have a historic week ahead. #HistoryVille

For peace to reign between Igbos and Yoruba, Yoruba must kneel down and apologize to Igbos for disrespecting them during the last concluded gubernatorial election in Lagos angry

All your threads and hatred is always centered towards Yoruba, even tho you stay in Lagos. The SE you came from, you couldn't stay there because of reality..

You mentioned coup & civil war, yet you're showing Awolowo and Akintola image as the end of your point. Nah word you wan hear and you go hear ham..

Back then, when Igbos were handling power, 80% of Nigeria parastatals were Igbos. Igbos we're heading almost all sectors. They fixed themselves into almost every positions. The west did not say a word. The north did not say a word..

Despite that UI is in the west, built by Awolowo, if 100 students gained admission in UI back then, 80 students would be Igbos. The remaining numbers would be shared between the rest regions...

Now, the education part is where other regions started wondering why Igbos have decided to make everything all about themselves! Akintola stood up! You can have everything, but definitely you can't deprived us of education. Akintola revealed a lot. The interview is here on nairaland & on google..

This is the beginning of how Igbos started planning coup. Just to kill the western premier leader & northern premier leader so they can control everything without interference. The Igbos soldier that planned the coup brainwashed other soldiers that the coup would only be about to take bad government out of power and replace back with good government. He didn't tell all other soldiers they would be killing any leader..

There's no way you'll tell a northern soldier you would be killing his premier and he would agree. There's no way you would tell a southern soldier you wanna kill Akintola and he would agree. So they didn't tell them the truth. They were brainwashed..

This was how Igbos were about to kill the northern & western premier leaders and this was where the most significant part of Nigeria problems started..

Today, there's no form of victim Igbos can form that can be bought. For, every single thing they're accusing you of, they've done multiples of it!

Awolowo couldn't fight the Federal power might Akintola had. He resorted to use Southern sentiment and revolution to encourage boys like Nzeogwu, Ademoyega, Ojukwu.

We know how it ended.

Vivor wasn't even campaigned for by Igbos in Lagos. He was using every sentiment to use his igbo link.
It was politics of two brothers.

We saw how it ended.

They have been shooting themselves in Oyo. If igbos are there, by now " igbo leave our land should have been the movement"

I don't know how this federal government could not do all it could to prevent the bat from becoming president because the facts were already there ahead way before the elections that this man becoming Nigeria's president at this time would destroy what is left of Nigeria.

Buhari couldn't have said he didn't know this, the Country's intelligence system failed completely if it ever had one before now. They ripped the social fabric of Nigeria in one fell swoop all to retain power at all cost?

Why did Nigeria not do enough to prevent this injustice? If you're still strolling around nairaland looking for who to troll you're on your own at this point because this Nation could ignite at the slightest spark.

The problems igbos are having today was intervening into Awolowo and co mater when tafawa balewa and Ahmadu bello wanted to roast him like goat meat. Igbos are sentimental when they see injustice. Balewa and Bello were bent on crushing Yoruba politicians over that bank loan matter

It pains me whenever I read this side of history. It usually makes me emotional.
