OP,YOU HAVE TO SUM UP ALL YOUR GP'S FROM YOUR YEAR i.e(let say in year 1 you have) 2.3 for first semester and 2.48 for second semester etc it goes on like that. The gpa you must have to be in 2.1 would be; 3.5-(2.3+2.48+second semester+third)/3

I have been in Ur position before. The funniest thing is that I tried to make adjustments in my grades in my 400l because I studied a engineering which is a 5 years course. The problem was that due to one carryover and the much credit load we did in 400l (this is because, second sesmter was for IT), I was overwhelmed. Tho I put in my best and thought I should have done better in my grade, my grades were still average. It was a good thing I was serious in 400l because a lot of student had carryovers in their 400l results and I had none. So that seriousness set the tone for my final year. I put in more effort, prayed, changed my mindset of getting all A(s) in every course. Something go come tell me say, u never dey tear A from 100l na final year u want make am. I just kept hope alive and the A grades started pouring in. It was a joy to behold. I graduated with a 3.58 CGPA and lass lass na still just second class upper they write. Same thing with person when graduate with 4.4 CGPA. And that seriousness has been paying off after graduation. So put in Ur best. Take it like those champions League come back. I wish you the best.

2.1 in the Nigerian University is now 3.0 as approved by NUC. Except if you want a 2.1 of 3.5 then you have study more harder
Pleat:
Greetings,
I am seeking advice regarding the possibility of graduating with a 3.5 CGPA (2-1) despite my current academic standing. I am currently in my final year of study, having recently resumed my 400 level, and upon reviewing my records with my academic adviser, I discovered that my current CGPA stands at 2.8. While I have been involved in various extracurricular activities throughout my academic journey, I do not wish to graduate with a subpar grade.

It is worth noting that despite my involvement in numerous activities, I have never failed a course. However, I do acknowledge that I have accumulated several C grades due to inadequate study time. Nevertheless, I am confident in my abilities and strongly believe that with dedicated effort, I can achieve academic success.

My primary concern is whether taking a 10-month break from extracurricular activities to focus solely on my studies would result in an improved CGPA and ultimately, a 2-1 grade. I would appreciate a calculated assessment of the likelihood of achieving this goal, as I am willing to put in the extra effort required to earn high grades over the next two semesters.

I understand that if I take a break from other activities and still fail to achieve the desired grade, it would be a significant waste of time. Nonetheless, I am willing to take this risk and commit to putting in the necessary effort to succeed academically.
The extracurricular activities mentioned up there is just my business that nets it constant profits monthly so leaving for a few months won’t hurt me I know how to navigate things.

Thank you for your guidance on this matter.

Make As in all courses in your final year
Re: ) by huptin(m): 6:22pm On Mar 21, 2023
Mathematically impossible, except your school adopts a graduated grade point average
Re: ) by Lingudy(m): 6:38pm On Mar 21, 2023
Nothing is impossible, but it is better to do the calculation yourself and set targets

That’s weird 3.58 CGPA and you were awarded second class lower …

Thank you for your input I’ll try my best
I have looked at my post again and I didn't see anywhere I wrote second class lower. Read it again.

Can you explain to me why you think it’s impossible
Simple to have a 2.1 over 8 semesters simply multiply 3.5 by 8 which will give you 28 in total.

Accorsing to your write up your avegrage GPA is 2.8, meaning so far your total GPA is 2.8 * 6 ( you have spent 6 smesters so far) therefore your total GPA currently is 16.8

If you subtract 16.8 from 28( the total GPA that cam give you 2.1 after 8 semesters) you will get 11.2, which. Is mathematically impossible since the maximum total GPA available is now 10 ( the max GPA u can get per semester is 5 and you have 2 more semesters to go)

Hi OP it's a good thing you've noticed your lapses and you're willing toake amendment. This was my similar story when I was in 400L(first semester) I had to do all it takes so as to have a 2.1 second class upper too. I knew it was all A's or nothing so the first thing I did was that I calculated how many A's I needed, I made sure I was closer to all my lecturers than before, I was present in all my classes, I did all my test very well, and of course I read extra. It paid off because I had A in my project which was an 8unit, I cleared all my 2unit with a A grade and I had only 1B. It was enough to land me a 3.5 CGPA and that's it. So brace up, move closer to ur lecturers, appreciate them and aim for an A in all the course u put in for.

I'm in the same situation like you
Presently in my final year with Cgpa of 3.0 but the truth is even after All the calculations I made to aim for 2.1 it seems it's going to be unachievable even if I have As in my project and A and B's In all my other courses.
For me to attain that I need As parallel which is not possible.
Re: ) by Yohans(m): 8:09am On Mar 23, 2023
It's impossible for you to graduate with 2.1 with a cgpa of 2.8 after 300l since you only have 2 semesters left.

Really!!

And how did you come to this conclusion sir
You averaged cgpa 2.8 in your first 3 years at school. Let me do a calculation to see if you can finish with a 2.1(3.50).
2.8 × 3 = 8.4
Assuming you got 5 point in your 400l. Then let's add it to your total cgpa from 100l to 300l
5 + 8.4 = 13.4
13.4/4 = 3.35
In conclusion, at most the cgpa you may end up with will be around 3.30, even after having 5 point cgp in you final year at school.

NB: This calculation is based on my assumption since I don't know your total credit loads and total accumulated credit points.
