INEC Debunks Claim Of Falsifying Abia Election Result by benjackugo: 10:05am On Mar 22, 2023
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has debunked claim of its Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, attempting to falsify Abia governorship election results, IGBERETV reports.

An earlier report had it that Nnenna Oti, the returning officer, had said during the collation exercise that Yakubu personally called her and gave her some criteria to follow in collating the governorship election results but that she decided that the will of Abia voters would not be subverted under her watch.

In reaction to the claim, chief press secretary to the INEC chairman, Rotimi Oyekanmi said Yakubu never called the returning officer to give her a directive.

The statement read;

“Rather, the Returning Officer wanted the official communication on the Commission’s decision to suspend the collation of results in Abia State. The Chairman then directed that pending the delivery of the hard copies, the soft copies of the Commission’s letter be forwarded immediately to the Resident Electoral Commissioner of Enugu State and the Administrative Secretary of Abia State.

“The Returning Officer for Abia State then directed that the content of the letter should be read aloud by the Administrative Secretary in the presence of agents of political parties, observers, the media, and security personnel at the Collation Centre.

“This is what is now being mischievously interpreted as a directive to the Returning Officer on some phantom criteria at variance with the approved guidelines. There is nothing like that.

“In fact, the content of the letter is basically the same as the Commission’s Press Release dated Monday 20th March 2023 which has since been uploaded to the Commission’s social media platforms and is already in the public domain.

“The public should disregard the story as fake news
.”

As usual, they will debunk it. Very useless organisation. After 60+ years of independence, simple credible, free and fair elections we can't conduct in this country, SMH

What do you expect INEC to say? That INEC chairman should be hanged by his balls. Ikpeazu wanted to use INEC chairman via his closeness with Wike to rig the election. The INEC chairman served as TEFUND executive secretary when Wike was the minister of state for education. What an evil man. Abians are ready for them. Abians have left Egypt.

Who won in Abia?
The battle should be so easy for LP but they are struggling with PDP. Elupeee ll have to go and prepare well for 2027. With their gragra in Lagos, you ll think they ll sweep the whole south east.
They focus more on APC and forget the real destructive goats called PDP.
Isn't it PDP that drive Nigerians desperately into the hands of APC?
They are still alive in the south east yet APGA their patriarch's party is on life support.
Elupeees, una still dey learn o!

We received information that Federal Government ordered INEC not to announce the governorship election results of Enugu ana Abia, because Federal Government doesn’t want Labour to win any state in Nigeria.
