WHY TRANSPORTATION TO OUR VILLAGE HAVE INCREASED BECAUSE OF ILLEGAL TAXES FROM THE POLICE AND THE MILITARY

It is no news lately that transportation fair from makurdi to our villages (LG) has increased by over 100% and this is due to some illegal taxation demanded by men of the Nigeria Police Force and that of the Nigeria Army who have stood guard to protect us, rather turned around to milk drivers who have no choice but to hinge the burden on innocent travelers with hike in transportation in the last years.

For example, from Ushongo LG to Jootar you have about 40 check points and each demanding N500 per vehicle while the army collects N1000/N2000 each from truck drivers and N200 for small cars.

In the far north where insecurity has been on the rise and daily, Yola to Gombe you have 4 check points, Gombe to Bauchi you have 2 check points and from Bauchi to Akwanga you have another 2 check points respectively.

The government will need to look into this ugly trend carried out by our very own trusted security men who should ordinarily stamp their feet against this nonsense but have rather joined in to make life unbearable for us all. Life has been difficult lately for all and if this trend is allowed to continue, some day the worse will just happen and this should be avoided at all cost.
