Cowardly Accepting The Faulty Results Of A Faulty Election Is Not The Best Thing by BluntCrazeMan: 3:57am On Mar 30, 2023 |
I saw this earlier thread about Gawuna of APC accepting defeat to NNPP in Kano, and those that were commenting on the thread were hailing him as a hero of democracy who did the right thing at the right time... (https://www.nairaland.com/7633063/apcs-gawuna-accepts-defeat-congratulates) TO ME,, I DISAGREE.!! If he has enough facts with him to prove that he actually won that election,, or to prove that there was Electoral Fraud which was enough to declare the Election Null-and-void, then he should head to the tribunal and dethrone the imposter who was claiming he won. That is why I still don't consider Goodluck Jonathan a good example of what democracy entails.., rather I see him as a personification of the word “weakness”. He even showed-off the climax of his weakness by cowardly accepting defeat even before he was actually defeated.. Who does that?? Quitting a game before the end of the game is actually a FOUL, and should be penalized -- not hailed. Furthermore, In any game or competition, If any of the runners-up was convinced that the winner cheated in order to win, or that the umpire cheated in favour of the winner,, then he should definitely challenge the results in the ways prescribed according to the rules of the game, and he should point out his findings, so that the reviewers would look at his findings and try to find out the true winner based on the findings -- that is, if the findings were confirmed true by the reviewers... And if the cheating happened to be so much that it marred the integrity of the whole competition, then the results would be cancelled. And it would be either that the reviewers declare that there is no winner, or that the competition would be repeated. Therefore, challenging a faulty result is the only right thing to do in such a situation.. Thus, for a runner-up to cowardly back down, especially if he had the means to initiate the challenge process and to follow it to the end, is the worst thing anybody can do in such a situation. IN THE CASE OF ELECTION-MATTERS, GOING TO THE TRIBUNAL DOESN'T MEAN THAT THE RUNNER-UP IS CHALLENGING THE WILL OF GOD. RATHER, IT MEANS: “MAKING SURE THAT WHAT HAPPENED WAS ACTUALLY THE WILL OF GOD”.. Thus,, for a runner-up to calmly accept defeat, then it means that he accepted that he didn't really win. And that is, even if any cheating actually happened (of course we have come to forcefully accept the bitter-fact that Nigerian Elections cannot happen without “cheatings” of all types and caliber) - then, it means that: “even if he went to the tribunal to upturn all of the cheatings - the cheatings were so little compared to the actual margin of winning, to an extent that he still wouldn't have won even without the cheatings” That was why he calmly accepted defeat. Which also is the right thing to do in such a situation too. But for the fact that he knew that the “cheatings” robbed him of his winning, then he has every right to challenge the cheatings.. 7 Likes 1 Share |

Al gore of Democrat and Goodluck Jonathan of PDP saved their Nation the stress by conceding defeat not because they don't have a case but because the cost of seeking redress far outweigh the gain All over the history of Republic of British Nigeria and then Federal Republic of Nigeria Kano State and Oyo State are hot bed of violence Wetie violence started when results declared at western region, and Eastern region where heavily rigged to favour Sarduna and Balewa backed Northern region.. this led to deadly riot in Nigeria and then first bloody coup, a counter coup and a civil war . 3 Likes |

Ireportlive: I want to understand... The Cost of seeking redress in an election you were convinced that you put in your everything, and that you actually won, is so much for you to put into consideration and then forget about seeking redress? And being that the cheatings and malpractices -- which they used to deprive you of your winning -- could easily be proven with a little more added effort, yet you decided to abandon the process.?? Unless the gains that was supposed to come with the winning was so little (and in addition to the very little costs that were accumulated in the course of the election itself), then, I can agree with you that seeking redress would just outweigh everything.. But then, why would someone even give in everything in the process before the election, if the gains of winning the election wasn't so important to him in the first place?? **Meanwhile,, for whatever reasons they might have stepped down, even when the had strong cases, then that's for them to cope with.. But for the sake of good, seeking redress strengthens a process, because it would establish better ways to do things in the future, and ways not to do things in the future.. Not seeking redress would end up leaving everyone to continue to do things in the old faulty ways, and be thinking that they are doing the right things. 4 Likes 2 Shares |

BluntCrazeMan: Let's use Obi coming 3rd and Challenging Tinubu's victory in a tribunal because he can Obi's major prayers is that Tinubu should be disqualified and election for forfeiture of $460k 35 years ago Obi's other prayer is that Tinubu Shetima should be disqualified and election nullified because Shetima is a Serving Senator when nominated to be a VP Let's say CJN gives him tribunals victory and Tinubu is nullified, election rescheduled and Tinubu banned from contesting Implications 1: Yorubas would never agree and would instantly go to war with Igbo repeating June 12 crisis 2: INEC would print and conduct another election with #300 billion Naira 3: 8 million Voters who voted for APC would never agree to vote again in another pill... Infact INEC staffs might be attacked 4: Places like Lagos, Ibadan and South West Ibo would face arsonist destroying their business . 6 Likes |

Ireportlive: Yorubas Are Very Peaceful.. Isn't it? So, they won't go to any War.!! In the court of law, it is expected that Tinubu would come up with a defence against the $460k allegation. Now, for the very first time, the case needed to be trashed in the court. So, we are expecting Tinubu to win the forfeiture case.. But at least, let him do that with lots of evidences to prove Peter wrong. About the Shettima issue.. Well.. It's really a strong case. But let the defence council come up with their defence first.. But then, if the election got annulled,, why would there ever be war?? Would it be war against “Nigeria” or what.?? 3 Likes 1 Share |

Ireportlive:You sound fearful here.. These costs you're listing out here are supposed to be the costs on the Igbo people.,, and not on the Yoruba (if I am correct). The Igbos knew about these whole costs. Peter-Obi himself is aware of them too.., and that's why he kept talking about the New Nigeria.. “The New Nigeria Is Worth Far More Than All These Current Happenings”.. That is why he always sees a better Nigeria amongst us already,, and he expects the police and the Military to prevent any uprising -- even in this current corrupt Nigeria. Peter is already seeing a better Nigeria where the right things are done the right way. So.... Let the Tribunal do their best first.. And Let the costs follow.. The Police and the Military would be there to do their best too. People are thinking that the cost of going to the tribunal will definitely involve blood. But that's not true... Even at that, had the blood that had been flowing before the Tribunal not been too much already..?? So, let the Tribunal come and end first. Whatever that comes out, let's see it. 2 Likes |

Ireportlive:The New Nigeria is already here. He who sees the right thing and didn't do it,, the person is not being rational.. He just aided the wrong things to continue.. Nigeria had happened so badly to all of us. We don't even know what is right again.. Some people were busy all these while, “sharing blood,” even before the main politics started.. And they are the same ones preaching to the other people about “politics of blood”. Shift Abegg.!! 5 Likes 1 Share |

Sometimes peace towers above all aspirations. You won't understand what GEJ did, maybe later. If you like challenge, if you like no challenge, peace of mind is the best |

Now .. Let me fully analyse your stupidity for you.. Formularcr7:We shall see to it later.. Some situations warrant you let go, especially when it is obvious your supporters will be affected. So now, tell me.. Who and who are those Gawuna-supporters in Kano who were to be affected if he sought for redress at the Tribunal?? You guys always type trash without thinking wide enough.. Even some win are not to be celebrated loudly because opponent might just get angry and start a fight. Are you living your life for yourself? Or for your opponents?? Are you an eye-servicer who do things for the validation of other people, rather than what you are convinced is right?? Are you really Normal at-all? So, for you not to make your opponents angry, you decided to keep down your own internal happiness, and let depression creep in and destroy you.?? Tinubu advice his followers not to celebrate much for security sake.Which security exactly.?? You just exposed even further that both Tinubu and his followers are all empty-heads.. 1 Like 1 Share |
