Women and mothers mean the world to us. It is not just about the care and the devotion to raising us, but they stay as a manual for young girls, serving as a guardrail especially during critical phases of their transition to puberty and menstruation. This is the biggest inspiration for the program, because preteen girls refer to their mothers and mother figures for direction and advice upon onset of menstruation, hence, it is essential to enlighten our mothers and women on the true nature, scope and depth of the menstrual experience, dispel menstrual myths, and hence curb the period stigma that stems from misinformation.

The program organized by the 528 project Program Coordinator, Violet Ejiata, with the support of the Office of the Ojomu Royal Palace of Ajiran, Lagos State, was attended by key international Beauty Queens, Mrs. Rei Obaigbe (reigning Mrs Nigeria and Nigeria’s representative to Mrs World in Las Vegas 2022), years Queen Nnena Odum (Miss Eco International first runner up 2023), Coach Naya (Beauty Pageant Tutor), supported by Queen Damilola Bolarinde (Miss Grand Nigeria 2022), and Queen Abimbola Abayomi (Nigerian Queen 2021).
Free consultation was granted to the attendees by Dr. Edwin Eno, a Medical Doctor and Public Health Professional, who patiently attended to their numerous questions, many of which were asked as regards their daughters’ menstrual health status. The hour long impact packed program was ably translated from English to the local lingua franca, Yoruba by a generous Ajiran community member, Mummy Abike.

The Chairman of the Ajiran CDA, Alhaji Jamiu Agbaje commended the 528 team for the initiative, urging them to continue the development programs advancing menstrual health. He thanked them to choosing Ajiran CDA for the program and pledged his support for subsequent outreaches programs.
