The Nigerian Army has procured, deployment and inducted assorted modern military equipments into the various theatres of operation as force multipliers, which has significantly bolstered troops' fighting spirit and enhanced troops performance across all theatres of operation.

The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya said this on Monday 3rd April 2023, while declaring opening the Chief of Army Staff First Quarter Conference 2023 in Abuja.

While urging Field commanders at all levels to ensure adequate maintenance of these equipments and sufficient training of troops to operate the modern equipments, the COAS noted that the Nigerian Army has also intensified efforts in winning hearts and minds of law-abiding citizens through conduct of innumerable civil-military cooperation activities across the country.



He said, these efforts are also aimed at improving the living condition of the populace and to complement the efforts of government at various levels, this manifest in terms of construction of roads, hospitals, provision of water and medical outreaches among others to some of our host communities, ajin to what is termed as Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in other fora.

"The insurgents and terrorists no longer have freedom of action and that has amongst other benefits resulted in massive surrender by the unauthorized on this sheet violates the adversaries. These efforts expectedly have enhanced troops poise and greatly improved the security situation and public confidence in the North East.


"It is on record that last year (2022), Nigeria attained its best record against terrorism since 2011. Put differently, in the past 11 years, from 2011 to date, Nigeria recorded its highest rating against terrorism last year, 2022.

"This is indeed a commendable effort and achievement by all of you, the other sister Services, stakeholders and indeed our able predecessors. Though impressive are these efforts, but we are not relenting. Rather, we are even channeling more efforts towards consolidating on these successes in order to completely neutralise insurgents that fail to surrender," he said.

"Conference, in addition to eliciting far reaching decisions created the necessary impact that has continued to improve the success of our operations in the region.


The intensified offensive operations to eliminate armed bandits and other criminal elements in the North West and North Central regions have equally yielded positive results.

Welcoming participants to the COAS first quarter Conference 2023, the Chief of Policy and Plan, Major General Anthony Omozoje said the Conference is in furtherance of COAS determination to maintain constant interaction with field commanders in order to review Nigerian Army activities for the First Quarter of the Year and to evaluate NA preparedness and come up with new and better strategies for improved collective performance in carrying out NA constitutional roles for the remaining months of the Year.


The Highlight of the COAS first quarter Conference 2023 is the presentation of fourteen (14) Toyota Hilux Vehicles to fourteen (14) Regimental Sergeant Majors of the Nigerian Army and the exhibition of Nigerian Army equipments, Uniforms and so on.

The Regimental Sergeant Majors that benefited from this gesture are; AWO Nuhu Bature, Christopher Livinus, Benson Nwachukwu, Jodali Umani, Isah Hassan, Igbelle Bartholomew, Nse abasi Joseph, Yakutu Saleh, Oyinloye Kayode, Abubakar Rabiu, Bello Mathew, Ibrahim Mohammed, Mohammed Suleman, and Bello Yusuf.
