During the plan to create the Midwest region, did you know that the NCNC led by Azikwe lobbied to include Ondo and Ekiti into the Midwest?
The question was why?
Answer- To economically strangulate the Western region because Ondo and Ekiti axis were big contributors to the revenue of the Western region due to large Cocoa plantations in those areas. Secondly, those two areas were the strongest zones when it comes to Awoism. That was where we had large fanatical followers of Awolowo. Lastly, to turn Yoruba people into minorities. Just like the way the Yorùbás of Ilorin and Kabba province was zoned into the Northern region, NCNC under Zik planned to take the Yorubas of Ondo/Ekiti province into the Midwest region to further destroy the Yoruba people politically within Nigeria. It was Samuel Akintola that fought against it. If they were successful, some sons of perd!tion would have been telling us on Twitter in 2023 that Ondo, Ekiti,Ilaje and Owo are not Yoruba people.
The politics of Zik under NCNC towards the Yoruba people was nothing but political conquest and subjugation of the Yoruba people via politics. The current Yoruba political leaders must make political choices in Yorubaland and Nigeria based on history and reality.
