This is highly condenmable. The perpetrators must be brought to Brook and face the full arms of the law of Benue State. My heart and prayers goes to those who have lost a loved one.

My prayer for Benue is that Fr Alia will not allow APC use him for their selfish gains.

APC is not the problem but the governor when he was in APC he failed same thing in PDP while blaming APC and allow the governor to go scotfree ?
What's the difference between obaseki' performance in APC / PDP these governors use the presidency to hide their incompetence

Freestyl:
In a shocking incident that has rocked the Nigerian state of Benue, suspected herdsmen have been accused of carrying out a brutal attack on the Umogidi community, leaving at least 46 people dead.

The incident occurred in the Entekpa-Adoka district of Otukpo Local Government Area, just a day after the same village had been attacked, resulting in the deaths of three people who were being prepared for burial.

The Governor-Elect of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, has condemned the killings in the strongest possible terms. Speaking from the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, on April 7, 2023, Fr. Alia described the incident as a heinous act that has left the entire community in shock and despair.

The attack on Umogidi community is the latest in a string of violent incidents that have plagued Benue State in recent years. Tensions have been high between farmers and herdsmen over grazing rights, leading to clashes that have resulted in numerous deaths and injuries.

The Benue State government, led by Governor Samuel Ortom, has been criticized for their handling of the situation, with many accusing them of failing to take decisive action to curb the violence. The Governor-Elect has called for urgent measures to be put in place to protect innocent citizens and prevent further bloodshed.

Fr. Alia has also urged the federal government to take swift action to address the root causes of the conflict between farmers and herdsmen in Benue State. He has called for dialogue and engagement between all stakeholders to find a lasting solution to the problem.

The incident has sparked outrage across Nigeria, with many calling for justice and accountability for the perpetrators of the attack. The international community has also condemned the violence and called on the Nigerian government to take action to protect its citizens and ensure that such incidents do not occur again.

As investigations continue into the attack on Umogidi community, the people of Benue State are left to mourn the loss of their loved ones and wonder when the cycle of violence will finally come to an end.

Angula Bishop Reuben writes from Makurdi.

You won't see those Tiefnubu's yoruba muslim supporters here, and that's very very unfortunate.
A country built on selfish interests, bigotry and deceit can never make any headway.

I don't see this rev.father been able to stop the killings when sworn in What measures will he take to stop the bloodthirsty fulani herders will he cancel the anti grazing law signed by orthom to allow fulaniherdsmen graze their cows freely in benue state unchallenged or what exactly? If he falls to stop the killings it will now clearly goes to show the world that gov. orthom wasn't actually the problem as some people always claim.

Why is it that fulani have been carrying out this act across Nigeria especially in benue and no fulani have been apprehended or prosecuted to serve as deterent to other fulani.

Since Government have turn a blind eye on this, I think the people of this village shud team up organise theirselves and face this people once and for all before this fulani send them to extinction.

Welcome message.
Seek to pull out Benue territory out of dysfunctional Nigeria.
There are many sovereign countries in the UN with population less than the Tiv population. What matters in one's country is how happy one is with one's country, not how rich or big is one's country.

He should start his own Intelligence gathering and leave useless Ortom.. by the time he gets sworn-in he'd already have clues of those causing mayhem in Benue.

It's either FG allows every citizen bear arms legally licensed or they allow States and LGAs to form security outfits and arm them. That is the only way to stop these senseless killings.

What they do is to attack through the neighbouring states of Kogi and Benue and flee back. Since when did you hear they attacked the hinterland unlike in other regions? Just give praise to whom it is due.
