That's a manatee. It's a herbivore and has no natural predator, except for the hungry Nigerian who eats anything and everything indiscriminately.

See as Una slash the head. Are you herdsmen??

The natural predators should be Orcas, bull sharks, maybe Polar bears

Not particularly very concerned myself but the sad thing here is that it's not even a grown up, just a baby manatee.
Hunting should be fair game but can't really judge their ignorance.

Yes hunting should be a fair game, but because it's a baby manatee doesn't mean a fish should not serve one it main purpose to human.
If a baby tilapia can be eaten,a baby manatee too is good enough for pepper soup.

More reason the Nigerian government should make quality education a priority for all Nigerians. If these fishermen were educated, they would know that it's not all animals that should be killed and eaten. Am sure they don't even know what Extinction is.

My retort. That's a West African Manatee. It was caught around a river(fresh water). Those creatures you mentioned live in oceans (all salt water) and the Artic ice region (specific to polar bears). Polar bears hunt seals, not manatees. These creatures (manatees & seals) look alike, but they are very different from each other.
