COALITION OF CIVIL SOCIETIES CHARGES INDEPENDENT NATIONAL ELECTORAL COMMISSION (INEC) ON FREE, FAIR AND CREDIBLE SUPPLEMENTARY ELECTIONS IN SOKOTO

The coalition of civil society organizations accredited to observe the 2023 general election convened today, April 14th, 2023, for a press briefing in preparation for the supplementary election, which is scheduled for Saturday, April 15th, 2023.

This joint effort is made to contribute our quota and to support INEC in guaranteeing a level playing field and providing electorates, contesting parties, and respective candidates the opportunity to vote in free, fair, and credible election.

We believe that INEC's preparedness, in collaboration with other stakeholders, is on track for carrying out a successful exercise. And, on the part of the observers, we have equally confirmed our preparedness to ensure that the electorates are served with equal opportunity to turn out in large numbers to execute their civic responsibilities as concerned citizens of Nigeria seeking true democracy.

We hope that this election reflects the will of the people and serves as a catalyst for restoring public trust in INEC.
