Job Title: Junior Management Accountant

Role Overview
Our client is one of the largest transport and logistics service provider in Sub-Saharan Africa that spans across the supply chain.

The primary purpose of this role is to work as part of the finance team to provide a high-quality management accounting service to provide the leadership with the financial advice and support they need to deliver quality outcomes for the business.

Job Role
• Management accounts and reporting:
i. Assist in the preparation of management accounts, balance sheets, cash flow statements and financial reports within agreed timescales
ii. Liaise closely with the Finance Lead to provide a comprehensive accounting support service, including the provision of financial information, analysis and review.
iii. Render support to analyze variances and explore potential problems, make recommendations and execute.
iv. Support in providing proactive financial advice to the Executive team, actively promoting improved financial awareness
v. Assist in evaluating the effectiveness of the management accounting service provided, make recommendations, and document ways of developing and improving the quality and timeliness of management information.

• System Controls
i. Support in the management, development and review of existing financial controls
ii. Maintain controls to ensure that all transactions are authorised in line with policies and procedures
iii. Monthly control account reconciliations

• Support the company’s improvement initiatives

Qualification and Experience
• First degree in Accounting from a recognized university (minimum of Second Class upper honours).
• Recently started / minimum of Foundation Level in ACCA or ICAN
• 2-4 years working as a Junior Management Accountant
• Significant experience in preparing management and year-end accounts
• Proven experience in resolving complex accounting problems
• Proven ability to highlight trends and detect financial inconsistencies when analysing and summarising detailed financial and non-financial information
• Strong Excel skills - quick and accurate manipulation of data
