Opay’s Quantum Leap In Employment Generation, Values Corporate Governance by JMORak: 6:02pm On Apr 17, 2023
Responsible organizations put in place economic and social intervention initiatives to consciously stimulate growth and ease burdens that overwhelm the population and customers by providing solution-based products and services.

OPay Digital Services Limited has been at the forefront of the Financial Technology (Fintech) revolution just as it makes indelible marks by generating employment in their thousands for the populace.

OPAY, licensed under the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) mobile payment regulation, commenced operation in Nigeria in 2018, and the company is today one of the country’s leading players in the Finance sector.

OPay is proud to deliver on the promise of financial inclusion in Nigeria today as it safely connects people with opportunities, and experiences they truly care about. Available statistics claim the company, just about five years down the line is worth over $2 billion.

Having worked as a financial expert for over 20 years and intently studied the OPay brand in the last three years, Mrs. Alice Adaramola confirmed the Fintech brand is committed to deepening financial inclusion through technology and enabling shared prosperity for Nigerians.

OPay, according to her, as corroborated by customers, “offers a one-stop mobile-based platform for payments, transfers, utility bill payments and other essential tailor-made services and solutions for every individual customer”.

Currently, OPay boasts over 30 million registered app users and 500,000 agents in Nigeria who all rely on OPay’s services to send and receive money, pay bills, and many more.

“Engaging over half a million agents and an additional 100,000 merchants is a quantum leap in employment generation in a country that suffers mass unemployment. It's a kind of social service to the nation and her people", said Sunday Ogunniyi, a brand analyst.

According to Mr. Ogunniyi, the owners of the brand must definitely be doing something right in projecting the brand and its products and services to meet the expectation of customers.

Alluding to fake news that made rounds in social media recently, Ogunniyi told our reporter that the elevation of corporate governance in the organization was possibly why the CBN rose in defense of the Opay brand when some erroneous news about the products and brand’s legitimacy was being peddled on the social media.

Quoting a recent report where the CBN debunked the viral news which claimed the apex bank was going to slam OPay, Ogunniyi said, "The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) described as fake, the news making the rounds that it suspended accounts of Fintech companies like OPAY and another".

In the CBN's rebuttal sighted by our correspondent, "CBN’s Acting Director of Corporate Communications, Isa AbdulMumin, rose in stout defense of the leading Fintech brand as the statement declared that the viral news “is simply fake".

This implies that Opay is not only a corporately responsible organization but also an organization that values and imbibes ethics of corporate governance in every aspect of its operations, Ogunniyi enthused.
