The current level of utilizing alternative energy in Nigeria in Nigeria is really worth applauding. We have come a long way and even though, the setup is still quite expensive, it has been estimated that around 30% of the Nigerian household make use of solar energy as alternate power source or grid.

Challenges of the solar energy market

Fake Product: It is amazing that wholesalers can place orders for manufacturers to make substandard products. The most annoying is the that will only work perfectly well but for only a year.

This means , it is possible for them to receive money for original equipments and purchase a fake one which is only going to work very well for 1year

Price: Most clients I have delivered for are always shocked when they see the price for an installation that will easily suppose their energy needs.

This is because they do not understand how voltage and horse power works. Except you just want to power lights, fan, TV and phones, you will have to prepare for quotation from1M naira and above in the least especially when you have heavier equipments like Iron, ACs, water pumps included.

How is this to your benefit?

1. Understand that original panels could last for around 12-15years with the batteries to be service every 2-5years depending on the type and strength. Imagine the money you would save on power!

2. They are mobile. They can be uninstalled and coupled in another building or location.

3. Fuel purchasing is reduced to the nearest minimum and there is no or zero dangerous emissions. (Cleanest energy yet)

So do not allow yourself to be cheated. The solar energy system is still the best alternative source of energy However, there are bad people out there wanting to take advantage of your limited knowledge of technology.
