In this video, you'll learn how you can start your own data reselling business for the major network providers in Nigeria (MTN, Airtel, Glo and 9mobile) and point you to a complete resource where you can find all the information needed on how to start the business.

What is data selling business?

Data selling business is the business of selling mobile data or internet subscription by reselling data purchased from other service providers such as Telecoms (MTN, Airtel, Glo and 9mobile), wholesale data vendors and others. The principle is simple, you buy cheap from a supplier and sell for profits to customers.

How to start your own data reselling business?

1. Buy directly from the network. You can start your own business buy simply buying data directly from the respective network providers. Each network operator in Nigeria has special SME data plans that allow subscribers to buy data in bulk at a cheaper price which you can later share with other customers on the network. MTN, for instance, has an SME package with prices ranging from ₦10,000 to millions of naira. The highest MTN SME plan allows you to get bulk data at the cheapest price. Also, each network provider allows customers to gift data to other customers on the network using airtime. I wrote a thorough article explaining how to do this for the major networks we have in Nigeria (MTN, Airtel, Glo and 9mobile). Check the video description for link to the article.

2. Apps or websites. There are websites and apps that sell data which you can resell to customers as well. These apps or websites buy data directly from the network in bulk at cheaper rates. Beware that some of these many apps and websites are not very reliable!

3. Buy from data reselling WhatsApp business group. This is a WhatsApp group created by me to connect data buyers and sellers together. The group consists of verified data vendors and buyers who advertise their services and order data through the group. To join the group, your identity must be verified and you need to complete a form. Only people who satisfy certain minimum criteria will be added to the group.

4. Buy data from a data vendor. This is also another way you can start the business. Very good for beginners as you can start with virtually zero capital. All you need is a reliable online standby data vendor who you can contact to get data sent to your customers.

Now that you know all the different methods you can choose from to start data reselling business, you may want to ask which method is best for you?

Since you're probably a beginner, I'll recommend you start with method 4 as it requires no capital. All you need to do is source for customers and pay your vendor with the same payment received from customers. This way you earn profit on each sales on the go!

For more information on getting started follow the instructions in the video.
