IBADAN BOOK CLUB, CONFERENCE OF SOUTHWEST WRITERS TO MARK 2023 WORLD BOOK DAY
The Ibadan Book Club, in partnership with the Conference of Southwest Writers, is excited to announce its plan to celebrate the 2023 World Book Day with a book reading event. The celebration, which will take place on April 29th, 2023 at the Oyo State Library Board in Dugbe, Ibadan, will feature three special guest readers.
The Convener of the event, Wole Adedoyin, stated that the celebration of World Book Day is a special occasion to promote reading culture and celebrate the power of books to inspire and transform lives. He further added that the event will provide an opportunity for book lovers and writers to come together to share their passion for literature and encourage the love for reading.
The event will kick off at 12:00PM with an opening address by the Convener, followed by the book reading session. The three guest readers that will be featuring at the event are Soyinka Abayomi Yusuf, Taiwo Fauziyyah Adesola, and Awe Jésùjoba Isaac. These readers are seasoned writers and literary enthusiasts who are passionate about promoting the reading culture in Nigeria.
The book reading session will be followed by a panel discussion on the importance of promoting reading culture in Nigeria. The panel will be moderated by a renowned literary critic, who will engage the audience in a lively discussion on the challenges facing the promotion of reading culture in Nigeria and the ways in which these challenges can be overcome.
The celebration of World Book Day is an annual event that takes place on April 23rd. It is a day set aside to celebrate books and reading, and to encourage people to discover the joy of reading. The Ibadan Book Club and the Conference of Southwest Writers are committed to promoting the reading culture in Nigeria and are proud to be part of this global celebration.
