Good Works Can Never Earn You God's Kingdom by FreedomfromtheT: 9:05pm On Apr 30, 2023
Some religious groups teach their adherents that they have to practice good works to earn God's kingdom after death.
They are wrong.
The reason is because everyone was born a sinner and sin and good works cannot go pari pasu. One must first be saved before his good works can count, not for salvation, but for reward.
Doing good to others is commendable but basing it as a yardstick to earn eternal life is akin to banking on sinking sand.
If it was possible for us to earn God's kingdom by our personal efforts and the works of our hand, Christ wouldn't have come to die for our sins.

1. This gobbledygook aside, are you insinuating that Jesus Christ lied when He explained that He would judge the sheeps and goats in His Kingdom solely on the good works they did, or didn't do, when He returns -- Matthew 25 vs 31 - 46? undecided

Are you in fact directly countering Jesus Christ's own judgment to claim, proclaiming that His Gospel violates your petty interpretations and is hence unrighteous? undecided

I guess he's saying only the good works of 'Christians' count. I could be guessing wrong.

It is the good works of the saved that count for reward in eternity. (Ephesians 2:8-10).

1. So Jesus Christ prevaricated in the context in of Matthew 25 vs 40 - 46 where He indicated that eternal punishment was what awaited those who lacked the same works? undecided

Yes, eternal punishment is the lot of those who are not saved as at death.
The evidence that they are not saved is that they lack the good works demonstrated by the saved.

You always comment without reading. You always pick the topic and start spitting.

What the Op is saying according to the scripture you just quoted is, if you aren't a sheep, your good works wouldn't count.

Well, guess what, the goats in the Kingdom of God are "saved" from the condemnation of sin aka Death and as such they have Etenal life too. So, what OP is attempting to say fails since salvation is not the measure but rather the good works. undecided

You are dead wrong or completely ignorant.
The goats are the stubborn self-willed sinners who didn't accept the message of the gospel. They will be damned to eternal punishment in hellfire.
I'm afraid, the way you sound hateful and mischievous, you must be one of the goats Christ referred to.
I pray you become a sheep before you pass on.

You are right. Good works without genuine salvation can't get anyone to God's kingdom.

1. But that are in fact saved --- they have eternal life and are in the Kingdom of God as a result. Recall that Jesus Christ urged His followers to seek first the Kingdom of God(holiness), and God's righteousness, in order that all these things-- the benefits and blessings of the Kingdom of God --- shall be added to one. undecided

And as Jesus Christ made clear, it is only those who attain God's righteousness --- do good works after first becoming holy--- that will be rewarded with Heaven. Whereas all those who fall short of God's standard of righteousness, though born-again, will not. undecided

You are wrong sir.
If one is born again and remains so till death, he will get to heaven.
Service to God, good works, soul winning and service to humanity especially those of the household of faith are added advantages for rewards (Mansions, crowns and starts).

There are people who claim to be saved whereas they are not.
Theirs is fake salvation (Matthew 7:21, Titus 1:16).

1. This contradicts Jesus Christ who instead said it is impossible for anyone to enter into the Kingdom of God without first being born-again. And in Matthew 25 vs 31 - 46 both the sheep and the goats are described as being in the Kingdom of God where the King then judges them. undecided

So, if the goats are not in fact born-again, how did they gain access in to the Kingdom of God, the Kingdom ruled over by Jesus Christ, a Kingdom not of this world? undecided

1. Yes! A majority in Christendom are indeed not born-again meaning they are not in fact a part of the Kingdom of God and as such have no real dealings with Jesus Christ let apart from their mental and audio claims. undecided

2. However, those Jesus Christ spoke of in Matthew 7 vs 21 are rather born-agains who are eternally bound to the Kingdom of God --- the goats. -- but continue to live in sin(disobedience) rather than live in obedience or the teachings and commandments of Jesus Christ. These people have eternal life and are a part of the Kingdom of God so their salvation is not fake at all since the spirit of Eternal Life lives inside of them as evidence they are indeed born-again. undecided

1. Even at that, the standard by which the goats will be judged is the standard that is Jesus Christ and that can only happen if they are of the Kingdom of God which is the jurisdiction ruled over by Jesus Christ. This can mean only one thing and that is that the goats are born-agains, citizens of the Kingdom of God, the Kingdom over which Jesus Christ sits as judge and ruler over all who belong to it. undecided

Stop showcasing your ignorance.
The goats (unrepentant sinners) couldn't have been granted access into God's kingdom before their judgement of eternal damnation!

The context of Matthew 25:41-46 is that of reward for the saints (the sheep) and judgement on unrepentant sinners (goats).
The goats do not belong to the Kingdom (perhaps some were). A lot of the goats may be members of the visible church. It doesn't make them children of God and members of His Kingdom.

1. You have never infact read Matthew 25 vs 31 - 46, for yourself have you? undecided

How much do you know of a King? A King is a judge and ruler over a jurisdiction. You see, a King cannot inflict punishment of any kind over individuals who are citizens of another country unless those individuals, in some way encroach on his very jurisdiction. In the passage of Matthew 25 vs 31 - 46, Jesus Christ explains that Son of man sits as King over the sheep and goats meaning that those two classes of people belong in the jurisdiction ruled over by Him, and we know that jurisdiction or Kingdom is the Kingdom of God, a Kingdom not of this world. undecided

So, the question again to you is if the goats are not in fact born-again, how did they gain access in to the Kingdom of God, the Kingdom ruled over by Jesus Christ, a Kingdom not of this world? undecided

1. The goats do not belong to the Kingdom of God yet they were judged and punished by the King with eternal damnation inside of the Kingdom? (Recall that eternal life only exists for those who believe in Jesus Christ and are born-again- John 3 vs 16 - and hence part of the Kingdom of God. )
