WRITING A RESEARCH PROPOSALS (ACADEMICS)
A research proposal is a concise explicit outline summary of research interest area and strategies. It has to do with the systematic statement of intentions and processes to be followed towards the reconstruction of the unique past invents (your project topics)
The proposal naturally follows the identification of a research interest area or TITLE. It touches on major areas in the historical research interest. The purpose is to give insight into what the researcher  has in mind, what he intends to do, how he wants to do it, the objectives in view, the problems identified in the research areas ; available related literature works, the justification and the significant of the study, the tentative chapterization,  sources as well as general introduction and other matters that can guide the research supervisor(s) in helping the researcher are included in the proposals.
In practice, the research proposals enables the researcher  to be able to appreciate at the beginning the magnitude of the problems in the task ahead as well as to gear  towards  better preparation.
The proposal represent the first major effort towards the understanding of the interest area as well as actual adventure into the research area. A research proposal, therefore , is an experimental device towards the conduct of a research. It is like a compass to the navigator and map to the to the geographer.
