The Federal Government has said that if four aircraft were made available to move at once, every Nigerian in Sudan will be evacuated.

The first group of several Nigerians stranded in Sudan arrived in Abuja on Wednesday, after days of trying to escape persistent fighting.

According to Nigerian authorities, the evacuation plan covers more than 3,500 nationals, but their total number could be greater, as more than 5,000 Nigerians are believed to reside in Sudan, many of them students.

Nigerian commercial carrier Air Peace landed in capital Abuja around 11:40p.m. yesterday with 260 passengers, while a Nigerian Air Force plane arrived a few minutes later with about 94 passengers.

4 more flights…
Meanwhile, Chairman, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, NiDCOM, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, said if four aircraft can move at once, every Nigerian stranded in Sudan will be brought home.

She stated this last night at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport, Abuja, while awaiting the arrival of the two aircraft from Egypt.

She said if four airplanes can move at once, everyone would definitely arrive, adding that another 3,000 stranded Nigerians were expected to return home.

According to Dabiri-Erewa, Egypt officials are insisting that the airplanes sent from Nigeria must be able to take the number of Nigerians available, otherwise they will not be allowed to evacuate anyone.

She said: “If four planes go at the same time, they will bring everybody back. Most importantly, we hope those over there come back speedily.

“We are expecting that with the arrangements made by NEMA, it is going to be more planes because Egypt makes it difficult.

“Egypt says if the number of people you brought is let’s say 200 and the aircraft can only take 150, then nobody will leave.

“They want you to pick the number of people that you are bringing into their borders.

“At the Port Sudan, we are trying to get tickets because it is even more difficult to get flight to Port Sudan but they have an airline.

“So they are processing them now to get them tickets and then they come back home. And if other airlines get the landing permit, they will quickly go to help evacuate them.

“At least, they are coming back home and we are glad no life was lost and priority was given to students, women and children. So, let’s just set our eyes on that,”
she said.

Returnees recount ordeals
Meanwhile, the Nigerians that returned last night have said they surferred.

A returnee female student told journalists they faced humiliation and slept in the open.

“We spent all the money we had. We were so hungry and thirsty. They were harassing us sexually.

“There was no food, no water to drink. It got to a point we picked things from shops and ran away,”[/b]she said.

Another female student told the BBC Hausa Service that their legs were swollen due to long hours of stay in the bus.

Yet another said the situation was so bad that they even had to pay money before they were allowed to urinate.

However, he wants the war to end so he can go back to Sudan and complete the last semester of his programme.

Then get those fucking aircrafts mobilized into the air including the presidential jet that have been juncketing with Ajala on senseless expeditions over the past 8 years to evacuate your citizens. There should always be a contingency plan for emergencies like this.

This is what happens when. YOu put square pegs in round holes. Nigeria should stop appointing inexperienced people into sensitive positions. Abike dabiri doesn't have any experience or knowledge when it comes to issues like this.

She got to that position through a Godfather.
The Nigerian government should allow people with knowledge of international relations to be handling matters like this.

The Nigerian government is notorious for handing sensitive positions to people that know nothing about the office they occupy. That was how they went and gave babatunde fashola minster for power, works and housing whereas baba nah lawyer. The government should leave such positions for people that are well knowledgeable in those fields.

"I need", "We need", "If we can have"... That's what we get from our leaders after paying taxes. Entitlement mentality!

Pay for the freaking planes and put the tab on baalablu or his fixer Mr Yakubu, they can handle it! grin

A private organisations has volunteered to due the evacuation, but you turned it down and here they telling us that they need 4 planes to carry out the evacuation.

That is non of our fucking problem, just do it and stop telling Nigerians how many planes you need, or what are we supposed to do with the information?

The reason why they turned down Air Peace, was to have room for embezzlement...... At the end, we going to see a headline that reads "It cost the fed government N50b for the evacuation.

Really?
Why is everything about this country always difficult?
With the various fleets of private jets belonging to all these politicians and all, what is making this situation so difficult for them?
And for those who still want to go back to Sudan amongst them, why not just stay there then... RUBBISH.

NAF 01 comes to mind.
Does the government not have the what it takes to do so. No matter the billions they spend in bringing back its citizens, it is not much.
If they had their children in these war torn countries would it take up to this extent. Our won’t they send various private jets?

I don't know whether it is because I am a Nigerian, and I consume Nigeria media/news primarily than other countries. I think the level of drama, whining.... surrounding the evacuation of Nigerians from Sudan effortlessly beats the combined efforts of every other countries that has evacuated people from Sudan.

Evacuation of Nigerians from Sudan cum Egypt has proven to be as difficult as giving Nigerians constant power supply, all thanks to our leaders

Zero diplomatic relations! A simple phone call from a consul at the nearest Nigerian embassy would have helped some foreign countries assist us with evacuation and visa free transit !shame!

There has been no one in the history of Nigeria as vocal or as active as Abike in her current position, but you just come here and say whatever you want. Who did she replace? How active were the people before her? Who should they replace her with --- YOU?

Wetin Airpeace owner don do for masses don pass wetin general buhari to do for Nigerians
What do kids know?

Hear it from the horse's mouth......

They must collect their trapped funds in Nigeria but how do you explain that someone flying from South Africa nine hours to London is paying less than a Nigerian flying six hours?
"How do you explain that someone flying from London to Las Vegas even now is paying far less, half than what a Nigerian is paying for six hour?" he queried.
This makes Good sense.
Onyema Allen has always been a guy that is wise and intelligent.
We concur to this.

(Seun Osewa, take note!)
Meanwhile,
Let's hear from the horse's mouth....

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Air Peace Airlines, Allen Onyema, says it is untrue to say that President Muhammadu Buhari does not like the Igbos.

Onyema defended his viewpoint on Saturday on the grounds that his airline had hugely benefited from the current administration.

I’m a beneficiary of Buhari’s kindness to Igbos – Air Peace boss

“I thank God for our President, Muhammadu Buhari, it is very untrue that he does not like the Igbo.
Without me being a member of his party, or any party, I am a beneficiary of his support for indigenous businesses.

“The Federal Government of Nigeria has given me destinations they have never given anybody, yet I am an Igbo man, from Anambra,” Onyema said on an interview with Anambra Broadcasting Service (ABS).

Furthermore, he stressed that people should not read negative meanings to the good works of the Buhari administration.

“I don’t know anybody, I don’t have any godfather, President Buhari through his minister, Hadi Sirika, has given me China, London, Portugal, the entire Europe, United States and India.
“He’s even given me Jedda, and I’m not a Muslim; the government has given me about twenty destinations to fly to.”

He added that;
“The President wants equal economic development everywhere.”

These are the Great and True Igbo men true igbos listen to.

More from Air Peace Boss below...... in his own words
