The Vice-Chancellor of Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu-Alike Ebonyi State, Prof. Sunday Elom has said that the footprints of the late Pro-Chancellor/ Chairman of the 3rd Governing Council of the University, Professor Emeritus Nimi Briggs were indelible, adding that his achievements and contributions to the development of Education  will remain  a reference point in the Nigerian University system 

The Vice-Chancellor stated this today during a condolence visit to the family of the departed Emeritus Professor of Gynaecology and Obstetrics in his Port Harcourt, Rivers State, home ; who died on 10th April 2023 after a brief illness.

The Vice-Chancellor, who was represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration, Prof. Abel Ezeoha noted that the late Briggs had paid his dues, adding that AE-FUNAI would surely miss his   love,  passion, advice, and immeasurable contributions to the advancement of the institution.

He therefore urged the family to take heart and be consoled that he lived a worthy life  characterised with indelible footprints.

While making a remark during the visit, a member of Council and Dean, School of Postgraduate Studies, Professor Chukwunonso E.C.C Ejike, said that the late Briggs meant a lot to the university,.He also noted that as the Pro-Chancellor, he had showed much love to the  institution.

He further stressed that the late Briggs lived a life many people would admire  to live, adding that  he was among the  few that did not only do things  that would be remembered but also wrote things that would be remembered.

Speaking on.behalf of the family, the widow of the deceased, Mrs. Data Briggs thanked the University Management for remembering them in their time of grief. She noted that her husband showed  love ,  enthusiasm, and energy as the    Pro-Chancellor of the University, and in every other places he had worked.

Continuing, she noted that her late husband was a gift to the family and the world,  stressing that they were  privileged to be part of his life and described him as the ambassador Nigeria never had.

The Vice-Chancellor was accompanied to the visit by principal officers and some internal members of the University Governing Council.
