Senate Presidency: Sen. Ubanesse Igbeke backs South East Zone.

The estwhile Senator representing Anambra North Senatorial Zone, Sen. Dr. Ubanesse Obi Igbeke has called on the newly elected and re-elected members of the 10th National Assembly to support the move for the South East Zone to produce the Senate President in the interest of fairness, equity and justice.

The respected lawmaker who was a former Senator, House of Representatives Member, Delegate to National Confab and Ambassador Extraordinary for Anambra State disclosed that it is penitent for the ruling All progressive Congress to run an all encompassing and inclusive government as providing in the federal Character without sidelining any section of the country.

Sen. Ubanesse reiterated that the Senate Standing Order 3, Rule 2 of the Senate Standing Orders 2022 as amended, provides that the nomination of presiding officers and appointments of Principal Officers and other Officers of the Senate shall be by the ranking of Senators.

He futher highlighted that In determining rank, the following Order shall apply.
(i) Senators returning based on the number of times reelected;
(ii) Senators who had been members of the House of Representatives,
(iii) Senators elected as Senators for the first time.”

Sen. Igbeke opined that several ranking Senators from South East Geo-political zone has meet the above condition as the South East boasts of experienced high ranking Senators whose loyalty and relationship with Northern Senators over the years has remained unwavering,
and Moreso, no south Easterner has been elected president since 1999, thus, it's logical that a south-easterner should become the number three citizen.

Sen. Ubanesse noted that the current composition of parties by Electoral positions are APC 54 seats , Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, 27 seats, Labour Party six seats, New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, two seats and the Social Democratic Party, SDP, two seats, while the Young Progressives Party, YPP, and the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, have one seat each.

Sen. Igbeke counselled the incoming senators on the need to ensure equity, justice and fairness in the balance of power by placing the unity of Nigeria above sectional and personal interest, thus, it behoves on them to unanimously endorse the aspiration of South East Senators to become the next President of the Nigerian Senate by supporting any of the most ranking south East senator who possessed the maturity, leadership and unifying qualities expected from a senate President.

If the APC members are fools they should choose a igbo man as senate president. They will destroy the administration. They never supported Tinubu election even the one in APC played anti party game...... orji uzo kalu cannot be senate president because he didn't contribute to Tinubu victory in his state.... how can someone get 99% vote in a region where we have morethan 4 contestants and you are telling me they didn't Rigged the election and the APC there are not aware of it... they will destroy Tinubu government and laugh at him....

Tinubu knows what they are up to. Kalu even shamelessly worked for Lawan's candidacy during the period leading up to the APC Primaries contest.

Tinubu is no fool. He has chosen Akpabio because he knows what's up. Wike is a hero because he stood up to insist President must come south at a time when men needed to stand up to be counted.

Tinubu will not mess with the turncoat conduct of the likes seen in Daniel Kanu (2 million man march for Abacha and "youth earnestly ask for Abacha" ) or Kalu's slave conduct of wanting to sell South to the North for another 8 years under Lawan just so he can be his VP.

Tinubu knows what he wants to achieve and he has not even a second to waste. He wont be unfair but won't indulge those whose character is known to the detrimenf of his own Presidency or to pander to political correctness.

This guy is just being typically Igbo by asking to reap where his ethnic group has not sown and showing the "food is ready" opportunism of Igbos.

Many of us warned them not to burn their bridges bwfore the election but they would not listen. They have taken on the wrong person in Tinubu because he will not respond to them and simply focus on what is best for Nigeria and his own success as President. Disruptive elements won't be indulged or accomodated in Tinubu's presidency.
