5Months Into 2023, 199 Mass Shooting Recorded Already In US. Projected 720

In total, so far in 2023, 14,672 people have died due to gun violence, including more than 8,000 people through suicide by gun, as well as more than 6,000 who were the victims of homicide, murder, and unintentional shootings.

The Figures Are Shocking
America is on course to have its bloodiest year on record after Saturday's Texas mall massacre brought the number of mass shootings in the U.S. this year to 199.

The rate at which mass shootings have occurred in the U.S. this year has also far exceeded that of recent years, according to data from the Gun Violence Archive.

The county surpassed the grim milestone of more than 100 mass shootings on March 5 - nearly two weeks ahead of the date on which the figure was hit in 2022.

At least 74 people have been killed or injured in school shootings, including the mass shooting in Nashville, Tennessee at The Covenant School in late March, according to one report.

The Nashville mass shooter, Audrey Hale, was one of just five female mass shooters in history when she gunned down six people, including three children, before cops shot her dead.

In April, Connor Sturgeon, a young employee of the Old National Bank in Louisville, Kentucky, shot up his place of work killing five people before he was also shot and killed, bringing the number of mass shootings in the U.S. to 146.

There have been at least 12 mass shootings in Texas alone in 2023, including the latest one on Saturday at Allen Premium Outlets which left nine dead, making it one of the deadlier mass shootings of the year.

The mass shooting in Monterey Park, California, in January, is so far the deadliest of the year after 12 people – including the shooter – was killed.

Eight people were killed during a shooting on January 4 in Cedar City, Utah, when Michael Haight killed his wife, their five children and his mother-in-law before turning the gun on himself.

In total, so far in 2023, 14,672 people have died due to gun violence, including more than 8,000 people through suicide by gun, as well as more than 6,000 who were the victims of homicide, murder, and unintentional shootings.

Victims: Not yet named

3. Enoch, Utah (4 January) - eight dead
Victims: Tausha Haight, 40, Gail Earl, 78, Tausha's three daughters, aged seven, 12 and 17, and her two sons, aged four and seven.

An Oklahoma sex offender who was freed from prison early shot dead his wife, her three children, and their two friends before killing himself.

The killings raised questions over why Jesse McFadden, 39, was released in the first place. McFadden had been sentenced to 20 years in prison in 2003 for first-degree rape of a 17-year-old. He was released three years early, in 2020, in part for good behaviour.

5. Nashville school shooting, Tennessee (27 March) - seven dead, one injured
Victims: Evelyn Dieckhaus, Hallie Scruggs, and William Kinney, all aged nine, Cynthia Peak, 61, and Mike Hill, 61, and Katherine Koonce, 60.

Police arrested 67-year-old Chunli Zhao after four people were killed at a farm and another three at a trucking business. The victims included Chinese and Latino farmworkers.

He later told police he carried out the shootings after his supervisor demanded he paid $100 (£81) to repair a damaged forklift truck.

7. Louisville, Kentucky (10 April) - six dead, eight injured
Victims: Tommy Elliott, 63, Juliana Farmer, 57, Jim Tutt, 64, and Josh Barrick, 40, Deanna Eckert, 57.

Five people were killed and seven were injured - including two police officers - after 25-year-old Connor Sturgeon opened fire at a bank in Louisville, Kentucky.

The former bank worker was killed in an exchange of fire with the police.

8. Goshen, California (16 January) - six dead
Victims: Alissa Parraz, 17, and killed her child, Nycholas, Rosa Parraz, 72, Eladio Parraz Jr., 52, Jennifer Analla, 49, Marcos Parraz, 19.

A teenage mother and her 10-month-old baby were fatally shot in the head "assassination style" in an attack that left six people dead in central California.

Police are looking into whether a gang or drug cartel targeted the family, and are on the hunt for two suspects.

9. Lake Wales, Florida (2 May) - five dead
Victims: Not yet named.

Al Joseph Stenson, 38, killed a mother and her three children at a motel in central Florida. Stenson was killed after an hours-long stand-off with police.

The children were aged 21, 17 and 11, and while police confirmed they were known to each other, they have not released their names or relationship.

10. San Jacinto County, Texas (28 April) - five dead
Victims: Julisa Molina Rivera, 31, Jose Jonathan Casarez, 18, Sonia Argentina Guzman, 25, and her son Daniel Enrique Laso, eight, and Diana Velazquez Alvarado, 21.

Francisco Oropeza, 38, went on the run after he killed five neighbours in a rural Cleveland town. He was eventually found under a laundry pile roughly 20 miles from the incident.

The attacks took place after his neighbours asked him to stop firing off rounds in his garden late at night because a baby was trying to sleep.

RIP to the dead.

I am seeing lot of things probably playing out here.

1. Mental disorderliness

The United keeps investing billions of dollars in healthcare bills, they keep funding health researches with billions of dollar. But yet they encourage homosexual and other unthinkable acts under the excuses of freedoms and right that are direct result or consequences of depression and mental illness.

Most of these guys carrying out these despicable acts are either transgender or spoilt little brats who are very retarded, but protected by the 'He is just depressed' phrase. A 'just depressed' person that sees nothing wrong in entering a mall to gun down people in annoyance just because he or she can't find butter in the refrigerator to eat bread.

2. I am suspecting the Anti-Gun campaigners. Over the years they have taken a very bold and daring step to make their demands. We have seen group of people infecting thousands with a disease just to force the government to build more hospital in their country or invest more in healthcare.

And in Un!ted state, we know how these campaigner behaves, they can be extreme somethings. Even when they are fighting a good cause, they sometimes use very extreme way to pass their message across. I feel maybe they may be behind these attacks, or sponsoring them; a bid to justify their fight against the free access to guns and push the lawmakers into making more gun-control measures.

3. Karma: Slutty b!tchy little karma.

Un!ted state, the self-acclaimed world peace maker. Who has been going around destroying nations. Libya, Afghanistan, iraq, Hiroshima and Nagasaki etc

Causing unrest in: Iran, isreal/Palestine, syria, Ukraine/Russia, Cuba, and others all in the name of seeking world peace cant even put its house in order.

What you sow, truly is what you reap. You can never have peace of mind when you go around creating chaos and unrest in other people country.

Very ugly situation in US.

The second amendment has done more harm than good, it should be abolished.

A well organized country like US doesn't need that, they have both the federal and state police patrolling every town and community, so what's the need for individuals to bear arms

Other advanced countries like UK, Germany, France, Canada, Australia, Japan, South Korea don't have such laws and they live in peace.

This is what happens when a nation mightily blessed and prospered by God turns her back on the Ancient of the Days.

This is what Happens when a nation ignores its SOURCE OF POWER right from its seat of power.

It is Disater, Destruction, Death, Desolation, etc.

America is gone if they don't vote out this their evil government. They are now going extreme with this LGBTQ thing to the point where children are operated on to change their genders without consent......

. To anyone planning to Japa go USA, it's worse there physically mentally socially and emotionally right now.
As for the gun laws, how do you expect people to have arsenal of guns at their disposal and won't fire it? Their hands will definitely be hitching to use the gun.

LOL. The reason we know bout the deaths is cos of the Free press in the US. In Nigeria here we read similar news here, even with a stricter gun control policy, cult clashes, Killings in southern Kaduna, areas affected by terrorism and etc.

The killings are not peculiar to the US alone, happens in almost all developed country, there's a price to pay for development and it's consequences.

The US judiciary system is quite strong and very accountable. at least if criminality is proven you get the sentence not to say there's no corruption in the judiciary but we look up to the US judiciary system. There are worse crime happening in other countries and substantial % are swept under the rug and mostly underreported. Aside the US what else do we know bout crimes in other countries or is it only the US populace that commits crime?

Like every country in the World, US suffers from their own peculiar problems but there are few legislations away from getting it right, cos once the laws there are made they are strictly enforced.

China for example have concentration camps, different from their prisons and we barely know what crimes they commit there or you think China is crime free. and the press is state owned

Russia too, the press is state owned so you only know what they want you to know, so you know they underreport crimes there.

so the difference is access to information, bout other countries. And another aspect is respect for fundamental Human rights in the US,

The US as a Liberal Democratic state can't take certain actions like countries with authoritarian leadership, The govt is not above the law and it's innocent until proven guilty. And alot of people see this as weakness on the part of the Govt.

You might want to argue bout the gun policy, like all other policy it has it's advantages as well as disadvantages. but even countries with stricter gun control policy still have gun control problems, there are still shootings there.

The bone of contention here is the Free press. if the US govt controlled the press like other countries we would never here of this issues, I have no idea what happening in other states in Nigeria but I know what's trending in the US

Bros Rest, Nigeria with lesser population with a lot of mega churches and mosques have lost more people than US to gun violence and crimes.

if your thesis was right, with Nigerians devotion to religion, we should be a World power by now.

In total, so far in 2023, 14,672 people have died due to gun violence, including more than 8,000 people through suicide by gun, as well as more than 6,000 who were the victims of homicide, murder, and unintentional shootings.

In 2021, the most recent year for which complete data is available, 48,830 people died from gun-related injuries in the U.S.
That figure includes gun murders and gun suicides.

This is why Nigeria remains in this spot and headless things will keep blaming the government. Of what concern is the US mass shooting to us like the daily kidnapping ongoing in this country. Has anyone volunteer to record in real time number of kidnaps and attacks across Nigeria and publish same in real time? Na so so copy and paste go finish all of you.
