Much Ado About Kidney Disease by desmond2pk: 8:50pm On May 11, 2023
I just lost a close friend 2 weeks. I was told his legs were swollen. He first did a test of malaria/typhoid which he treated. When the sickness was getting worse, they decided to try herbal drugs which also didn't work,. They were told that it was poison. He was taken to his home town where he died with three weeks.
Before he told, he contacted me, we made arrangements for him to be taken to FMC owerri It was there he died.
I suspected kidney disease. But he didn't have enough money to consult a good doctor , atleast to tell him what was wrong with him.
Today, I saw a friend of mine. She told me she traveled for home to burry her sister. I was so worried because I knew her sister, she was very young I asked her what happened. She said her legs were swollen and they suspected she was poisoned and they took her to herbal man .
Well, i also suspected kidney disease.
A young lady who works closer to my office came to see my secetary. She told my secetary thar her legs were swollen. And 2 days one side of her face was also swollen.
I advised her to go to hospital immediately. She said a lot of people told her kidney disease.
I used to think the major causes of kidney disease is alcohol and tobacco smokers. But nowadays, alot of people who neither smoke nor drink are dying of this disease.
And, because of lack of professional diagnosis, alot of them are receiving wrong treatments who eventually leads them to death.
How can the government increase or improve on the awareness of this diease?
