Abraham Lincoln and John F. Kennedy were American Politicians who served as the 16th and 35th presidents of the United States respectively. Coincidentally both were assassinated while still in Office and were both shot in the head on Friday. Aside from these they several coincidences connecting Lincoln & Kennedy. But before getting into the details it is imperative to analyze who the men were and their notable contributions to history.

Abraham Lincoln
Abraham Lincoln was an American lawyer, politician, and statesman who served as the 16th president of the United States from 1861 until his assassination in 1865. He led the Union through the American Civil War to defend the nation as a constitutional union. He also succeeded in abolishing slavery, bolstering the federal government, and modernizing the United States economy.

Lincoln was a self-taught Lawyer, who prior to his presidency, served as a Whig Party leader, Illinois state legislator, and U.S. Congressman from Illinois. His Gettysburg Address came to be seen as one of the greatest and most influential statements of American national purpose. In 1863, he issued the Emancipation Proclamation and promoted the Thirteenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, which upon its ratification abolished slavery, except as a punishment for a crime.

Lincoln is considered by many the greatest president in American history. On April 14, 1865, he was attending a play at Ford’s Theatre in Washington, D.C., with his wife, Mary, when he was fatally shot by Confederate sympathizer John Wilkes Booth. Lincoln is remembered as a martyr and a national hero for his wartime leadership and for his efforts to preserve the Union and abolish slavery.

John F. Kennedy
John Fitzgerald Kennedy ( often referred to by his initials JFK, was an American politician who served as the 35th president of the United States from 1961 until his assassination in 1963. He was the youngest person to assume the presidency by election and the youngest president at the end of his tenure.

Prior to his Presidency, Kennedy represented Massachusetts in both houses of the U.S. Congress. His presidential administration included high tensions with communist states in the Cold War. He also presided over the continuation of the Apollo program with the goal of landing a man on the Moon and was most notable for supporting the civil rights movement

Like Abraham Lincoln, Kennedy is also considered one of the greatest presidents in American history. He was however assassinated, on November 22, 1963, in Dallas. His vice president, Lyndon B. Johnson, assumed the presidency upon Kennedy’s death. Lee Harvey Oswald, a former U.S. Marine, was arrested for the assassination
