Nah today you just know Nigerians. We can celebrate mediocrity. All nah eye service.

If they can celebrate a past governor as saviour, who governed for 8 years and his records was 13 months of doctor strike, more than 8 months of state university closed up, no election of LGA for 8 years ( despite court ruling twice to conduct the election), and other embezzlement.

Nigerians can celebrate lucifer in the detriment of Jesus miracles.

First of all, I will like to say that I am happy for Hilda for breaking a world record. It's never an easy feat, however, I think Nigerians are really overhyping this.

Hilda didn't really achieve anything groundbreaking or even useful by cooking for 100 hours, especially one that would warrant such national attention. Yes she broke a world record, but all she did was cook. Not like she was inventing a new delicacy or manufactured a new technology to cook food.

One thing I have noticed about this country is we don't have our priorities right. And it's not just the leaders, majority of the population are culpable. For the past three days almost every post on my Whatsapp status is about Hilda. My twitter and Facebook timeline is all about Hilda, but really is this something worth celebrating by a whole nation?

Go on Youtube and you will see various accounts by white kids from different western countries doing even more amazing stuff, but their countries do not recognize them, simply because it isn't worth recognizing. In the 21st century, a serious country recognizes technological innovation, groundbreaking medical research and other things that actually make a positive and impactful difference in the world. What impact has Hilda's 100 hours cooking made? It's not like she's cooking to end world hunger. What will be the positive impact of her cooking 2 months from now?

We really need to get our priorities right. There are university students that have done more useful projects that can actually solve problems and put Nigeria on the global map, but yet no one gives a damn. These projects can actually make a difference, create jobs and improve the economy of this country, but some pretty girl cooks for 4 days and everyone cant shut up.

This is 2023 where countries have gotten to the level where they can wipe out the whole of Nigeria in minutes; where countries have developed AI technology that can completely transform the economy of the world, yet a country of over 200 million people are celebrating a woman that did nothing else but cook, as if she just discovered the cure for cancer. Shame!
I tot I was the only one in ur shoes, d unnecessary publicity and hype surrounding it has been way too much. Haba, there are several productive projects dat hasn't seen d light of the day

I think you are missing the point. The whole campaign is to promote the will power of the average woman in nigeria. They feel they are only known for olosho. With this support, the average woman would be inspired to reach out to the heavens.
And who told you she’s not into the olosho industry?

[quote author=localbreed post=123156541]Guinness World Record or whatever they call themselves should be celebrating inventions and innovations that solve societal problems

Imagine celebrating someone that cooked or slept for a certain period of time....how does that contribute to the betterment of humanity ?

[/b]

Go and get a copy of Guinness world record and see things for yourself, life is not always about academic and innovation but all rounds achievements.

If we are to go by academic alone, life will be too boring, afterall, the academic inovations, the owners still comercialising it for profit gain.

Oga, learn how not to see that what u cheish, is what others must show interest in, at all cost, God deliberately make people interest and likes to be diverse.

Na country and people wey be say their stock in trade na follow follow or copy copy you dey write all these for?

This has always been the stock in trade for our people.

Watch as more Nigerians will jump on the bandwagon to want to replicate what she did.

The young lady did well by challenging and pushing herself to do this. However, making this a national topic of discourse amid everything else plaguing the country is repulsive.

Have you ever wondered why we have some particular select brand of cars on our roads or why almost everyone does the same business? See POS for instance or check the nonsense pranks and whatever they do on TikTok.

Our people are lazy to think out or fashion out an idea for themselves.

Just bring up an idea, thrive in it, and see them mess it up for you.

Always celebrating and jumping on the wagon of mediocrity...

Naija kids built paystack and sold it to American company Strip for over $200m = N150bn.. more than annual budget of most states in Naija.. and most Naija politrickians, celebrities and youth do not know their names.. let alone celebrate them… but we’re celebrating a woman cooking when we should be encouraging them to be coding, researching and yes building a biz empire like Tantalizer, Mr Biggs, etc. a woman’s place is no longer in the kitchen.. We should be teaching our daughters how to own bakery and distribution and employ people to work for them… not to work for crumbs. We have to demand more from our girls. Shola Borha was the CEO of Standard Bank Grop- African region -one the biggest banks in Africa. She didnt get with there with her cooking skills.. Okonji Iwela, Akunyili didnt get there their cooking skills..

Hilda beings to the kitchen and the other room. The cooking challenged strengthened that fact.

I don’t know how to pretend or sugar coat it, the challenge is useless and doesn’t warrant any national celebration.
it does. For a woman to stand and cook for 90 hours, she deserves to be celebrated. Why not you take up the challenge yourself.
