On May 17th, we celebrate World Hypertension Day, a day dedicated to highlighting the importance of monitoring blood pressure and bringing global awareness to the 1 billion people living with high blood pressure worldwide.

The theme for World Hypertension Day 2023 is 'Measure your blood pressure, Control it, Live Longer.'

High blood pressure, also known as hypertension, is defined as a systolic blood pressure consistently above 140 mm Hg and/or diastolic blood pressure consistently above 90 mm Hg.

Once your BP is 140/190mmHg then you have hypertension.

Hypertension is the #1 risk factor for heart disease, stroke, renal complications, and premature death. Usually, high blood pressure alone does not cause any symptoms.

Fortunately, hypertension can be prevented and managed, by checking your blood pressure regularly, and through treatment.

Since 2016, CDC and global partners have worked together to create innovative strategies to prevent and control hypertension, and improve people’s overall heart health in countries across the world.

It is paramount that you check your BP regularly especially when you are 40 years above.

Get tested, know your numbers, and live longer.

In Nigeria the first preventive measure in dealing with this silent killer disease called hypertension is to kick apc out of our political system.

Lose weight, walk not ride, limit your salt intake, don't constantly be under emotional stress. Do those things and BP is history!

Bad feeding habit and not engaging in regular exercise. Too much salt and seasoning, eating fatty foods and fries foods. Junk foods. We have to eat lot of vegetables and fruits as well. Then regular check up. Checking HBP is not expensive but regularly doing it can save one's life

I will like to dedicate this year's Hypertension Day to Chief Emilokan, the incoming president of Nigeria.
We wish you a quick recovery. Nigeria needs a world-class Hospital for Politicians.
Not a world-class hospital for poor civil servants like what we have today in Nigeria
