As far as I am consigned na only lagos Abuja and too some extent port Harcourt that can be described as something that " resembles" a city the remaining na towns and villages...how can you call a place without rail line, no subway, no stadiums no airports, no skyline no waterfronts no industries as a city are you mad? 10 Likes 2 Shares |

There's no clear difference as the line of distinction varies from countries to countries. In Japan, for example, a place having more than 50,000 inhabitants is termed a city. Going by this logic, we will have more than 1000 cities in Nigeria. Some sources believed a town to be geographical location that has its own governing body or government area. So I guess places with more than a LGA can call itself a city then. Offa in kwara state has a single LGA and thus is a town while Ogbomoso with 5 LGAs is a city within that context. 2 Likes |

United Nations use the population of people residing in an area to classify it as Hamlets, Village, Town, city, Megapolis and whatnot... It's not necessarily the infrastructure in an area that makes it a town or city. Because even some small villages in the Western World have some cutting edge infrastructure that a so called city in a third world country doesn't have. |
